Toast Warren Tredrea - Elected to the Port Board (Football discussion only)

For years the media narrative is that Ken needs to win now or he's gotta go. Even from his biggest supporters like Kornes. Then when he bombs out in the traditional Hinkley manner, it's all about how the list isn't good enough and how Port supporters are unreasonable.

It's gaslighting, disingenuous bullshit. You can't have the CEO talk about 3 flags in 5 years and then set the bar at winning regular season matches, or simply finishing in the top 8. What am I supposed to garner from the CEO declaring we want to win 3 flags in 5 years and then when we are completely non-competitive in finals, nobody is held accountable?

They're lying, Chewy. They're liars. David Koch is a self described liar. They don't even approach their own stated targets and then pat themselves on the back and get their media attack dogs to go after the supporters for expecting more.

As Tribey said earlier, the party atmosphere tonight should be a Let Them Eat Cake moment. It's disgraceful. We're absolutely nothing to them but an occasional annoyance.
It shows they have no fk'n idea & as you say they're all disgusting liars.

I like you Roger James, however Tredrea would have wanted Hinkley sacked. This has not occurred. On the scale of pass to fail where does this sit. I’m torn as to where he would best serve the interests of the club but my sense is his arrival on the board was too late and change will happen next year if it has to regardless of his vote and voice.
Sure he wanted Hinkley sacked & yes that hasn't been achieved. But at least we have one person working for our desired outcome. I get your point about where would he be most effective - inside or out. I think it's too soon to know the answer to that. I just hope he has plenty of support from other areas to keep going.

Tredders has just posted an Instagram story from a caravan site saying that he's about to start a Footy Dept meeting. Hopefully today is the day Chewy was alluding to

Today's not the day. Routine list management update I'm pretty sure.
Like I said previously, wait until the trade period is over before anything is finalised on Ken.

Ken is finalised - there is no way on this planet the biggest news story is Ken getting axed late October, just can't see it in a million years.

Didn’t he just have to sell his home to settle/fund the other thing?

Because that’s suboptimal for what’s left of his boardroom campaign amidst the “2nd!”, “we beat the Baby Hoks!”, “we’re the youngest!” Caligula-B&F.

I think it's definitely clutching at straws, but theoretically if they are going to put Carr in - it wouldn't really matter when they sack him.

I don't think it's clutching at straws at all, I think it's a very important difference between this hypothetical sacking and a normal post season AFL coach sacking.

The whole trade strategy needs to be informed by the senior coach and the choices, in part, reflect his game plan which is why clubs that change coach try to finalise the new appointment by the GF.

Would be a yet another devastating indictment of Port if they arrived at the right decision a month late.

So we're going to draft an inanimate carbon rod with frying pans for hands so we can execute the coaches game plan?

No one said that (apart from you).

Generally, the senior coach will have substantial input into list management by articulating what types of players complement his game plan and where he feels the gaps in the list are which informs drafting and trading decisions.

The footy department have made list decisions that would have occurred irrespective of Ken or Josh as coach.

If they do move on from Ken, it won't be a decision made in haste. They've been discussing hypotheticals around what a Carr led program would look like for months.
