Was Mike Sheahan - Hodge only won Norm Smith because Hawthorn won

Hodge, was head and shoulders above everyne else on the day. Lots of other important contributors of course - Sewell was nothing less than a jewell, and Ellis confirmed in my mind he will be a decade and a half player. I'll say now, he'll be unlucky not to be a future captain. Dewy was a rampaging beast at times, always solid and dependable. Cyril is well ... I just cant describe it. He's electrifying. Im coming round to the idea that hes probably capable of doing anything, and still when he goes and does it, Im still blown away. Still, Hodge was the man for all 4 Qtrs.

Hodge with half his possessions still would have been my vote for the Norm Smith. His pure grunt, presence, intimidation, let alone his inspiration just dont show up as statistics. Always carries himself like hes going to win the contest, never going to be beaten. If anyone beats him for the ball, its never an easy contest, never soft.

Ablett was nothing more that the best Geelong player on the day. Head and shoulders above their best, but so what, definitely not BOG.

Was the icing on the cake to see the bald headed media dandy snivelling like a sick dog. I made the call on Saturday eveningand I'll say it again now, 'he can just firetr*ck right off to Queensland like the other one'.

He was bitching about it on "On the couch" just before.
They had Clarko in the studio and he shut him up. He said something like if Ablett had 34 posessions and the Cats still lost, he wasn't that influencial, while Hodge was the most influencial player on the ground and deserved it

possies mean sh1t in footy these days. sure ablett played well but had no influence on the result. whenever hodge went near the ball something eventuated and his influence on the game was evident.

I think Dew was a match winner, if he had continued into the last qr and kicked a couple more he would of won it. Ellis was outstanding, buckled under pressure a couple of times kicking across the ground and made a few turnovers, but was great.

Mike Sheahan is a knob, wouldnt know about footy if it slapped him in the face. just a dick who would believe the best players are judged by the amout of touches you get.

I thought Gerard Healy did a great job tonight "on the couch". Asked Mike to justify his article and then when mike discussed possessions, Gerard very firmly put him back in his place pointing out the 1%ers, the attack out of the back line, the marshalling of the troops and finally the courage.

The media always sets its own agenda, as I have said previously there is no doubting ablett is an amazing player, but sometimes you just have to take the blinkers off and take a really good look around.

I thought Hodge was great but I was hoping for something from left field.

I thought Stewie Dew could have won it. His thrid quarter, kicking goals, winning some important contested possessions really assisted swinging the momentum your way.

Did anyone else feel this way or was it just me?

Initially I felt Dew shouldve won it, but after watching the reply for the 5th time ... he was very good but just not BOG for the whole match

does that make sense?

I bet mike never questioned judd or hirds norm smith - just as debateable imo.

10 of the 30 sun tipstrs picked us - not such brave thing in my opinion - we were looking OK. KOD picked the cats

It's not as if the Hawks came out of nowhere to win.
They had a record of 17-5 for the year which probably would have had them top in most other years and they smashed the other 2 top 4 teams in the finals.
felt kinda sorry for ablett, busted his bumhole all year and came away with nothing.
