We may as well discuss the benefits of being the first team to build a boutique stadium aboard the international space station.

(Naaah, no atmosphere...)

I honestly would rather contend with the perils of space travel than drive on the Monash ****ing Freeway.

MCG soulless

fu** me

want my ashes scattered there
You sound like a Mexican who supports Hawthorn.

If you're Hawthorn through and through, it's Glenferrie.

Alongside David Parkin (when his time comes) and others.

That is our sacred turf. Not with all the other unwashed at the G.👍

Glenferrie is history. We’re not playing games there.

Reading the twitter thread it's very clear that this person has no idea what the money is for. If they actually knew and still had a problem with it, fine. But they're carrying on like the money is going to be spent on a golden throne for Jeff Kennett.

Just came to post this BS
Fancy thinking the funding has come to us BECAUSE of JK connections

The lack of research into funding received by other clubs shows their bias. I can’t stand JK but this is just an LNP witch hunt and they are using this as an example

Any posters driven past the site recently and can see any activity?

Thought Jeff's last update was contruction would start pretty soon
Apparently there's a $16.5M gold statue of Jeff Kennett sitting amongst compacted garbage. Which, if such a thing had to exist, is pretty much exactly where it should be located.

There have been vehicles going in and out of the site regularly for about 2 years now. No idea what they are doing but mostly dump trucks so i guess excavation or soil/turf deliveries. But I know nothing about this stuff just see the trucks coming and going when I passed which is about twice a day.

Things are absolutely moving along. Expect to see a lot of activity at the site shortly.
I got my email notification that there had been an update to our information on the project this morning.
Very likely all this info was gleaned from the updated TPA. As all my previous disclaimers state, the company i work for obtains information from publicly available sources and only obtains that information up until construction commences.

Status of the project has moved from "possible" to "registrations"
Stage has moved to Requesting tenders for design construction.
The developer and tendering authority is Duo Projects.
The notes indicate the calling for tenders for the design construction stage
Commencement date reads as 11 April 2022 with a completion date exactly 12 months later.
The town planning application has been updated to indicate the involvement of Duo Projects (available on the councils website)

I would expect that tenders have already been submitted and will be awarded shortly and the next update to the project will be "commencement" which is when my journey ends and we rely on you people on the ground locally to tell us what you can see through the fences.

I hope that its only a 12 month construction phase, if we can have teams in there in just over a year from now that's going to be fantastic!
Cant wait to see what we end up with.

Looking forward to the club having access to world class facilities.

Go hawks!

4 ovals; an outdoor training zone; a 2-3 story admin and training building for the players that includes spaces for a café, office, education space, gym, coaching and media rooms, change rooms; a community facility including a community pavilion (with space for up to 30 people for short stay accommodation for the Next Gen Academy on the ground floor) and a 6-court indoor sports hall and medical suites for professionals such as sports medicine, physio, podiatry, myotherapy, diatetics. One of these buildings also including space for a function centre with a capacity of up to 400 patrons. 830 car parking spaces, 2 x entrances and exits onto Tootal Rd, 2 roundabouts and roads throughout. + building supply shortages.

Surely the project is in stages and this completion date is the completion date for Stage 1.

Still extremely exciting and thank you for the great update, nonetheless, but I suspect the completion date for the entire project is much later than the 12 months predicted here. It is so nice to hear that it is getting underway though - that’s the main thing.

"Shifting focus now to the Kennedy Community Centre, expressions of interest have now closed for the main contractor position. We will now work through these submissions with the project management team as we get closer to being on-site by the end of 2023.

Over the past couple of weeks, our playing group and staff have headed out to the Kennedy Community Centre site in Dingley Village to have a look at the area and start to visualise what our exciting future looks like at these state-of-the-art facilities." - CEO Reeves
