In 2019 when crowds weren’t covid affected, Gold Coast and GWS away attendances were 28 and 27k

so where are these games that would go in a boutique stadium? That ship has sailed

docklands was wrong at the time and wildly over priced. 20 years later now the costing is restructured it makes sense

Also any bus routes will no doubt be changed to accomodate a new AFL stadium. Probably straight from the train station to Dingley. No stopping. That's probably a 5 minute drive at the most.
5 minutes?
In what world?
I work a "five minute" drive from the future Kennedy centre, and it takes 15 minutes in good traffic

Returns will be more efficient, there is trams, bus, and trains, although the closest train station I think is 7km away.

The MCG is a soulless venue.

So essentially your argument is you don’t like the MCG so you want the club to piss away money and build a stadium that’s closer to your house.

It's further away from my house.

I would like the club to have its own identity and home ground. That is not alot to ask.

Wait... is this an option?

I already work from home so this would be great for my lifestyle!

Do you really want us to become a minnow club playing at a boutique stadium?

Cause I don't. I want us to be a powerhouse.

If you want to be a powerhouse then 11 actual home games will only help. It is probably worth two extra wins each year.

MCG soulless

fu** me

want my ashes scattered there

could be improved if someone had the balls to call out ridiculous ticketing practices where the Lowe deck is acres of empty seats while people are sent up to the nosebleed seats.

the arts centre has memberships too but you don’t see rows of empty seats up the front. Only the MCG

What are you talking about? We already have 11 home games. Yes four of them are in Tasmania but that is a decision the club has made for $$.

You are living in a dream world if you think the AFL would let us play all of our home games at a 30k stadium. Geelong don't even get that deal.

Pragmatically we should be aiming for a 9/2 split between the G and Marvel.

MCG is a home in name only.

Same as it is for Richmond who no longer play at Punt Road Oval and Collingwood who no longer play at Victoria Park. Are you really going to argue that they aren't powerhouse clubs?

It's genuinely odd that you think playing at a 100,000 capacity stadium that is genuinely world-famous prevents us from being a powerhouse club. All of the 'big' Melbourne clubs play at either the MCG or Marvel. None of them are clamouring to play at a tinpot stadium in the outer suburbs.

I didn't say anything about being a so called powerhouse, I just think it's a dumb setup

This is far too accurate for any road upgrade I’ve seen in this country - particularly Melbourne.

no one shows what happens if you don’t do it.

and when the rate buses v cars, there’s always full buses, not the empty ones clogging up the roads

We may as well discuss the benefits of being the first team to build a boutique stadium aboard the international space station.

(Naaah, no atmosphere...)

If we want to be a power house, let’s drop this ‘south east suburbs’ malarkey
