fu** I love this bloke. I'm 52, been following the Don's since I was knee high to a grasshopper and have had many favourite players over the years.

But this bloke takes the cake. He is Essendon personified. His retirement speech said it all . He was as Black and Red as any champion who came before him.

I will miss you Hooksey, I loved watching you play and I wish that we could have got you the ultimate glory, a premiership.

Hoping that you still have some involvement with the club going forward. If not, enjoy the next stage and thanks for the memories. Now if you will all excuse, I have something in my eye.

Also, as a side note, Heppell may not be a star on the field right now and has sometimes copped a bit from supporters for his deficiencies... but that speech at the start of the video shows his true value to the team. He is clearly one of the reasons the players have total buy in, playing for each other and the club. An awesome leader.
