Getting paid hundreds of thousands of dollars less a year would not be a great outcome for Beams.

Even if you don't get Beams, your club should be applauded by sticking to its guns, and not compromise its integrity in rebuilding going forwards.
What Collingwood fans seem to fail to realize that Brisbane was totally pillaged in last year's trade period (which luckily may turn out to be a blessing in disguise with the fabulous kids you drafted from the go home 5) but The Lions (led by Swanny) have had to make a tough stand and say, 'WE WILL NO LONGER BE BUNNIES FOR OTHER CLUBS TO RAID'
I think Al Christensen and Mitch Robinson will be fabulous additions to your club.
Think you Lions are starting to get their mojo back, as a Carlton fan, i am very jealous of your youth, the good times are coming back to the Gabba, if not next year, then in 2016 and beyond

Collingwood has played a pretty straight bat through this whole affair, not sure why you would think that the deadline is for show. Brisbane will probably keep putting in offers but active negotiations have ceased and I don't see Collingwood being interested in reopening them, there's no point.
I might leave it there. Good luck for next year.

Brisbane doesn't care about Dayne's father, only care about trying to get a bargain and use circumstance against Collingwood.

I don't know how to phrase this without it seeming like an attack but how could you honestly expect Collingwood to part with their 3rd best player, UNDER CONTRACT, for what you consider "fair worth"? A player the Pies never wanted to lose.
Whether it's overs or not it's a moot point, we never wanted him to leave so the Lions had to satisfy our demands or he would be a required player.
We have to set an example otherwise other clubs will think all they need to do to get a player from our list is offer them huge $$.

ii) Of course Collingwood are trying to mend bridges. He is our 3rd best player and if a trade doesn't occur we want him back playing for the club and to HONOUR his contract. We will be hopeful, like Dustin Martin at Richmond last year, that we can turn around the current feelings he has. We will also work to see that he can see his father and brother as much as possible.

As another non Brisbane fan here I agree with all of that. It is good to see that Brisbane done being pushed around and bullied at the trade table and have a clear idea in the direction they are going. I thought at the time that Brisbane easily won last years draft and they seem to be doing very well this trade period as well.

This isn't far wrong except that we get to keep Beams whom we rate higher than the picks. If you had a contracted player that was wantaway you wouldn't go under your own valuation. You didn't want to trade a player so an agreement couldn't be achieved, not that unfair really.
