List Mgmt. We Have A Bright Future

We have pockets of talent but they all have weaknesses. We forget that Gibcus will be back which I am looking forward to seeing. We need some genuine A grade young talent to cycle out Grimes, Vlastuin, Mcintosh, Prestia, Lynch. Players with deft touch and good decision making. We have too many senior players make too many simple skill errors.

New coach in, more acute and tough list management decisions for the betterment of the Richmond Football Club.

I am fine with everyone but Bolton, Lynch, Dusty, Rioli, Taranto and Gibcus tested out for valuation during the trade period.
I'd have everyone on the table to hear an offer. Doesn't mean we need to accept, but this list needs a serious injection of young talent and its smarter to at least listen to all offers, you never know who might overpay you.

I reckon coach is the easy one as we reduce what we pay for the new coach so we will have more support/ development coaches etc. Speaking of development, what's happening facilities wise with the new stand? The tough part is how quickly our older players retire to let us play the younger players and see who can make it

We could have a bright future if we strip it back and get back to what made us successful in the first place.

Remember when Benny said it all starts with a vision I think it was no debt 75000 members 3 premiership by 2020 and be the best.

Where's the vision and goals now
and what is it ? All I see is stagnation and contentment and just happy if we get 100000 members every year and mabe make finals .

Growth mindset and goal setting seems to have disappeared.

For that to happen the club would need to focus on football side of things. Hasn’t happened for a while now.

Let's not get to glum. This is our line-up next year or two.

B: Young Balta Vlastuin
HG: Short Broad Rioli
C: Banks Tarranto Ross
HF: Dusty Miller Gibcus
B: Baker Bauer Cumberland
R: Nank Prestia Bolton
Int: Hopper, Dow, Brown, Clarke, Sonsie

Backup who are or look like AFL players: Mansell, Soldo, Ryan, MRJ, Tresize, HRJ, Coulthard.
Might pinch a good player or draft another. Still have no idea what Campbell will be, looks good so far.
Smith is another.

Club is doing just fine .. it's doing everything the fans and a bunch of Big Footy posters want.

We gifted Edwards to 300 games.
We totally respect our premiership heroes by never dropping them despite and ever-growing chasm in form.
I'm sure we can find another few milestones or boxes to tick for Jack.
Let's gift Pickett, who is woefully out of form, 20 more games so we can potentially get a father or son or two in 18 years time.
Let me guess, we'll have a record number of West Australians in the team next week.

It's all become about moments ... not vision and what's needed to compete.

Should've been our line-up as soon as Dimma checked out (minus Gibcus). We completely wasted this year from a development stand point. The flag was never happening, we don't have any picks to worry about. We should've used this year as a free hit to pump games into the kids. The results wouldn't have even been much different.

Wonder if some of it is the optics on the Hopper trade. If we played kids all year and finished bottom 3, the media scrutiny would just be non stop and we would never hear the end of it. But with playing our best side most weeks we finish middle of the pack outside the 8 and the trade looks less of a disaster. This year we really didn't find out if enough of our younger players are AFL level which is a massive disappointment.

The 2022 season was our Last Dance moment, when we had a group good enough to contend for a flag, but didn't quite get it done.

This year, for me anyway, was about the beginning of the new era, where we would introduce the next generation throughout the year and be somewhat competitive and it's pretty much panned out as I expected.

Unlike the majority in here I can see some positive signs for the future, we've got a solid nucleus to build from and there are some younger players that will add a new excitement to the way we play once they become established in the side and replace a few premiership players who are no longer what they used to be. 2024 should be a big year for the likes of Clarke Brown Gibcus Banks Sonsie Maurice Bauer Ralphsmith Dow Coulthard Cumberland & Ryan as there should be opportunities for them to stake a claim for a spot in the side.

While a lot of people believe that Taranto and Hopper were brought in for this seasons last dance, I'm one of the few who believes they were brought in for what they can be from 2025 and that is the foundation our midfield is built around. Taranto Bolton & Hopper with Ryan as the ruck is a solid starting midfield with some outside ball users who can actually deliver the footy like D. Rioli & Short (off HB) Ross & Banks(wings) Baker & Sonsie (HF rotating Mids). A solid 2024 season where this group plays a lot of footy together will benefit us in the long run especially when you add in some of those other younger players mentioned above.

So while plenty seem quite down on our future, I'm actually looking forward to it, because the journey is sometimes better than the rewards at the end.

22 was definitely our last dance, but the wheels have not fallen off completely if we play our younger players and hope that one of the or two of them come on better than we think. Gibcus is obviously one. Sonsie is a mystery, went backwards but looked a real player last year. Cumberland has the talent and x factor we need if he comes on. Who would have thought that Dow could play a first half like he did.

Our problem this year were our established players did not fill the mantel when we needed them to. Grimes, Jack, Graham, MacIntosh, Pickett played every game with not much reward. You can see what is happening at Hawthorn when young players who have a season or two under their belts start forming a coalition and backing each other.

I think we've all got to accept our dynasty is over. Time for a new coach with new ideas. Play the youth and build a team and game plan around Balta, Bolton, Baker, Taranto etc If we do it right we could be pushing for finals in 3 or 4 years but we've got to accept we are gonna bottom out. Hawks will pass us next year.

Wow, there is no accepting, it is over, red rover!!!!

It is just about how we want to play the over until the next rise!!!

North could pass us next year, but what you suggest is spot on, a lot of teams will continue to rise like Adelaide, GWS, Gold Coast, and even Essendon. North could go past us next year, not impossible

So unless we are bark raving mad, next year is a development year with growth, any premiership aspirations is delusional 100 percent respectively keeping it real as possible

i'm not sure mini is the answer either!! looking at him having to explain to the players on the bench doesnt look like the players are actually buying into what he's saying! im not a lip reader but by body language it looked more argumentative and mini having to explain the system rather than being instructional!

Yeah I'd much prefer someone from outside the club as coach. A new approach. He needs to be given time though. Our list is fairly ordinary stacked with aging players and with not much picks wise to go to the draft with this year. Besides Cotchin, Tarrant and maybe Jack retiring we have Grimes and Prestia who have had very ordinary seasons.
