WE MUST TRADE DARCY

A silly comment made a few years back, but still has wheels because some one opened the vault once more.Alway looking back. Rather than looking forward. But, hey, that is Fremantle. Well some.
Looks like some here want to start a new rebuild.. trade Darcy!!!!!! WHTFF?
Some are attacking his fitness, I would think it is obvious that his lack of fitness stems from the fact he hardly is able to put in full training because of his knee.Even blind Freddy can see that.
He has his knee repaired off season, gets in a full preseason.. and away we go, back to number one ruckman in the league.
At half fitness Darcy is a much better option than Jackson as first ruck. Jacko is not really a ruckman. He struggles against the big bulky rucks, has no strength to compete. When he somes up against like for like ruckmen, he has no timing of his leap to win taps.
Some a bemoaning the loss of Meek, he was never going to stay as third chance ruck when Jackson arrived. And , good luck to him.He deserves all he gets at the Hawks.
As was mentioned, the knives were out for Sandi when he was having a bad run, mainly with injury, and we all know how that scenario turned out.
Make no mistake , Darcy is far from finished. He will lead our ruck division in our first premiership.

that game and Geelong if Reidy plays instead.

I'm not sure about that. Port showed that Reidy's opponent tends to run off him and mark the ball - killing us with field position gains. That's a strength of Geelong rucks.

We couldn't mark the ball between the arcs and couldn't defend opposition attempting it. Which makes sense, every coach against us realises that Draper and Amiss aren't really up to it yet to be the #1 player to have to beat that level of opponent in such a key contest over and over.

Lets be honest, if Darcy took just a little bit more responsibility and Jackson didn't have a awful 2024 then that 1-1-6 or whatever record-line looks a lot different right? We need these guys to turn it around not be traded out.
Darcy played 12 games - 8 wins, 3 losses and 1 Draw. 70% winning rate
Without Darcy - 4 wins, 7 losses. 36 percentage.

Close Games
With Darcy 1 win 1 loss 1 Draw 50% winning rate
Without Darcy 0 wins 4 losses 0% winning rate

Trading Darcy is nonsense.

Crazy talk.

Jackson isn't a number 1 ruck but an excellent Forward/Ruck. Trading out Darcy, we will need to get another 1 ruck, which is pointless.

Another thing is that Darcy bleeds purple and assist team culture.
I’ve changed my tune on Jackson and Treacy backing up.

Think Reidy or a recycled ruck can be the no 1. Jackson backup and Treacy Fwd only.

Darcy’s unavailability will only get worse as he gets older. Maybe he trims down next year like 2021, but is it sustainable?

If our cap is as tight as some say, AB will be looking for a new contract soon, Warner comes available and who knows what. Spending so much on an overweight ruck with injury concerns seems ridiculous to me. That’s the last I’ll say about this in 2024.

Reidy is unproven.

If you tell me Darcy plays 12 games a year for the next 5 years, I’m trading him immediately.

The hope is that we can get him fit and keep him on the park. He’s a big asset to our team and the two ruck strategy in the (rare) occasions he is both.
Is that realistic or optimistic though? I don’t know.

In the last 5 years, Darcy played 15,21,21,15,12.

The last two years has been the issue he has averaged 13.5 games.

I can't be bothered fact checking you but if that's a fact then you would be off your head even considering trading Darcey.

You should tweet Cornes with that

Personal opinion: I am taking an uninjured Sean Darcy at his current weight and ability over any ruck in the league not named Max Gawn.

I pot them a lot on Game Day, but the reality is Darcy and Jackson are the pivotal point of difference to whether we actually get a flag during our "window" of contention. Please God sort them out and have them firing together consistently.

Sorry but Reidy would be terrible as first ruck.

When you gotta rely on an imaginary figure to back your opinion, yoh are in trouble.

What we need to do is get Darcy fit and playing. We then need Jacko to be used as a back up ruckman and not run him into the ground by bashing him into giant ruckman. If we can get those two thing into harmony all will be sweet.

Reidy is unproven.
Have to use him.
Other teams use unproven, raw rucks. It’s not a position to use a multi million dollar talented freak as number 1 ruck because Darcy is injured.

Look at Geelong. Gotten away with Blicavs and Stanley. Why can Fremantle just use Reidy as the safe option and allow Treacy and Voss to go free? It’s dumb.

You forgot about Rohan Marshal but other than that its a fair shout.

Club needs to take some responsibility too and get him on the right diet if he can't abide by it then the man himself is not serious
The fact that he does not train as much as others are able us due to his knee innury. Not beingable to train as such will lead to his weighf gain. Even blind Freddy should be able to work that out.
The man must eat, but he also has to be able to work that off with physical training. The training he has been getting is by playing INJURED.
Simple.
As I said, Blind Freddy can see that.
