And what's even more ridiculous is that the AFL then have the gall to publicly state that draft pick sanctions are what hurt clubs the most, as if they are defending themselves for not having been harsher to Essendon in this regard. Where was that concern when they came up with our punishment?!

It very much sounds like they have looked for technicalities to get Essendon off as much as possible. From my understanding Jobe Watson says he took AOD whatever, Dimetriou has said it's a banned substance but because they "didn't set out to cheat" they are not drug cheats.

Maybe the "behind the scenes" campaigning that the AFC claims that it does lots of but we just don't hear about it is actually true?
We clearly got a top end punishment for ours, and they got a punishment on the lower end for theirs. We let the AFL in and went along with the process without saying anything, Essendon have been going at the AFL all year. Yet somehow they are the ones who cooperated (because of a tip off) and got a discounted punishment for it, and we didn't completely cooperate with the AFL. What a joke.
Translated: One is a Victorian team and the other is not !

I'm sure no-one cares, but I was actually the featured speaker at the Lions Chairman's Lunch a couple of weeks ago.
