We are kidding right?

Well it's confirmed, we have gone from:

Port in BIB RFC in side panels

To

Port in white RFC in home

To

Port in PB RFC in home

And the RFC official has just confirmed.....

Port in PB RFC in the clash

Gotta lev the afl, they seriously have no ******* idea. As I said previously, I don't mind the clash (in fact I like it), but it cracks me up how much they keep changing their mind on this

How ******* hard is it to lock it all in at the start of the season?
By sunday both teams will be playing in the nude

Joking right?

The beginning of Gill's reign........

What did people expect from him, this is the guy who engineered the whole Melbourne didn't tank but well fine the and then give them money to pay the fine solution

Should never have been given the gig over Brian Cook

I doubt it. We've ready said we'll be wearing white shorts to commemorate the last time we won a GF at Adelaide Oval and your away kit comes with white shorts.

We are wearing white shorts because it was the compromise to us asking for the famous b&w jumper and so somebody at the club was able to place a positive spin to having to still wear white shorts in order to soothe further backlash of still partially looking like the away side. The '65 notion just happened to work for the argument.

However, in saying this, it will not surprise me if both clubs are clear with the tops they'll be wearing but have become confused with the shorts and we witness yet another farce on the day.

It makes sense that we wear white shorts on this occasion, it just doesn't make sense that Richmond do not have a contrastingly different clash strip and the AFL haven't given it a second thought. If this had been the case, this fiasco would not have occurred.

If the general consensus around the AFL teams is for home final teams to wear their home strip, then the general consensus should be for home final clubs and supporters to allow allocation of seats to the priority season ticket holders first before opening up to all, rather than open slather from the outset. In addition, we should allow the home final teams to present their fanfair rather than having to ask for permission as we did with the NTUA. However, Eddie doesn't like all this, so it won't be passed.

Just on this point (I agree 100% with the rest), you need to remember this is an AFL game, not a Port one. You get the home field advantage, and the home jersey (theoretically), but the rest is AFL

AFL get the seat revenue and decide the allocations

So even if Port supporters were given first crack, they wouldn't be buying into the bays that have been set aside for the RFC members.

That being said, last season when we bought tickets from the MCG, it was staggered, with coteries first, the premium memberships, then GA. Not sure why AO/Ticketek did n't do it like that this time

Meanwhile at AFL House

As Ford implied they seem to be spaced out.
:D

Gilligan and co appear to be on a trip where they think they are the masters of the universe but their minds are wondering all over the place. :D

Does I'm-Mark-Evans know about this? Or have the clubs circumvented this fool and worked it out amongst themselves?

... How ******* hard is it to lock it all in at the start of the season?
Well yes but it never had to be locked in in the first place. The basic proposition of home v clash is universally understood, except apparently by Mark Evans.
Sometimes you can tinker a bit e.g. play away against Sydney and there is the option for most teams to wear their home guernsey/white shorts, that is the sort of thing where you might say Tigers in their home guernsey would work. But only after Sydney agreed.

Has that bay/club separation thing actually happened for this game? I thought that was a Victorian peculiarity. I don't recall it happening here in previous finals. Mind you bar GFs I don't really recall it in our finals played in Victoria either.

imagine if they wear their clash jumper with black shorts.
Yeah but Mark Evans has just told them to wear Dayglo pink socks (may not be true*).

* 'cause there's always one who takes these things as Gospel.

Not sure if it has been asked, or mentioned in this thread. But has anything been heard from Gill all week. Extraordinary that the so called leader of the AFL has simply gone missing during this debacle.

What the firetruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck?

This is literally the derpiest derp in the history of AFL decision making. There have been worse decisions, but there have not been decisions where the process has been more ridiculous.

You guys will obviously have to wear black shorts with your clash which will be better than white, but it's frustratingly stupid that the week has progressed like this on this issue.

Subtle problem for Gill. If he had reversed Mark Evans' decision he'd have undermined him. If he'd had to publicly issue a statement of support for Evans he'd have undermined him.

Posted in another thread that I loved the front page of the tiser with the little Fijian kids running around in the prison bar jumpers.

The jumpers look fantastic and whilst I accept the V as our AFL jumper and all I have to admit a bit of the reptilian hindbrain lit up and sent out the thought 'Wouldn't it be great if ... ?" :D

This article
has a few of the pics in it.
