AFLW 2024 - Round 9 - Indigenous Round - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
Geelong Def Hawthorn 59pts 68,000
Collingwood Def West Coast 61pts 65,000
St.Kilda Def Sydney 21pts 39,000
Carlton Def Essendon 19pts 72,000
Because 90,000 is a huge amount. A non-series ticket Elimination final is not going to get 90,000. Even the 1999 Prelim only drew 80,519, and the 2000 Prelim 84,778.
Considering that Hawthorn/Geelong have more members than Carlton/Essendon, its on a Friday as opposed to a Sunday and its a Qualifying Final as opposed to a meaningless Elimination Final (where the winner will inevitably get knocked out by West Coast the week thereafter) its certainly a chance...given that the 2 Essendon/Carlton games drew 76,000 to the 2 Hawthorn/Geelong 71,000 its probably unlikely, however it'll be close.
The largest Elimination Final ever under the current finals configuration was 84,000 in 2006 (Collingwood V W Bulldogs)
.
Before the Filth supporters get on and tell us they could pull those crowds to. Im talking about the Dawks supporters and their large supporter base will never top the top 4 Melbourne sides.
Nice to dream hey DAWKS
I think what Friday did was make the cats pussy whipped, meaning they r all delusional, they will be the most disappointing side in Sept.... you can bookmark that now..... ill explain once they r out...
So wll they sack Ratten when the Blues lose
Yeh but '99 we (Carlton) didn't have a chance in hell - everyone was expecting a 12+ goal flogging.
2000 - Kouta and SOS gone for the year playing a team that had lost one game all season.
Also prelims are like 80 bucks a ticket vs 44? for this Sunday.
Are you saying that if Carlton/Essendon played in a prelim this year in a 50/50 game it would only draw 82k? Carlton/Essendon would sell out easily. You need to go beyond just pure stats sometimes.
my tips
Cats v Hawks - Cats 18 points. 77k
Pies v Eagles - Pies 74 points. 61k - Most Collingwood supporters can only afford to go to one finals game per season and save up for the Prelim.
Saints v Swans - Swans 3 points. 37k
Blues v Bombers - Blues 49 points. 89k
Because 90,000 is a huge amount. A non-series ticket Elimination final is not going to get 90,000. Even the 1999 Prelim only drew 80,519, and the 2000 Prelim 84,778.

Cats/Hawthorn game isn't selling as well as I expected. What's going on Hawthorn supporters? Seems like you boys were only blowing hot air in all the membership and crowd threads.
Tigers big 4, Hawthorn best of the left overs.
Well looking at Tickets sold I think the crowd expectations will look like this
Geelong Vs Hawthorn 75,000
Saints Vs Swans 40,000
Collingwood Vs West Coast 70,000
Carlton Vs Essendon 90,000
I would guess it would be lower because Geelong supporters always struggle to go to Friday night. It will probably be about 60% Hawthorn supporters
The Collingwood game is the series ticket match. Isn't that about 10,000 extra included in the total?
http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/sellout-looms-for-blues-dons-20110906-1jw5v.htmlHawthorn and Geelong had sold 55,500 tickets for Friday night, while Collingwood versus West Coast had sold 58,600 - the latter number inflated by the sale of series tickets. 30,400 tickets have been sold for the St Kilda-Sydney elimination final at Etihad Stadium on Saturday night.
