There's a lot of hearsay and rumour thrown around when it comes to draftees.

I can't speak for everyone but if I was a young bloke looking like I was going to land at the pointy end of the draft and a club told me to underperform I'd tell them to go * themselves. There aren't huge official draft bonuses in the AFL compared to say American codes, but you're much more likely to get locked into a long-term deal in your first year if you're a top-five pick in comparison to say you are pick #15 (even if that's because the club knew the reasons).

Big difference being drafted by WCE than being drafted by Norf... development is so important in the first 4 years, even getting to pick 20 would be fine if it meant I was going to the team of choice.
