Watching Cripps' compiled highlights for the year and I think it's worth noting that there is nearly no skill where Cripps is better than Reid.
Cripps tends to favour the handball in congestion because he doesn't get separation that Reid (or a Judd or Dangerfield-like player) does. Reid might do well to utilise the releasing handball more, however, our midfield is obviously less dynamic than Carlton's midfield and they'll really need to practice running to the right spots for Reid to make best use of his explosiveness around the contest.
Cripps is excellent at breaking tackles due to his immense size and the velocity he can build up for his size, but that attribute is Reid's bread and butter.
When Cripps kicks he is a neat and accurate kick but is not a risk taker by any stretch.
Cripps is a fantastic and dependable contested mark but he is not as dynamic as Reid is (and presumably will continue to be).
Cripps consistently hits the scoreboard but that's something I think will develop with Reid should we improve our other midfielders (ala what Reid demonstrated vs Fremantle or Geelong in the last round).
What Cripps does have that Reid lacks is consistent repeat efforts. Cripps has very good plays maybe a dozen+ times a game, virtually every single game. Reid is capable of the absolutely brilliant and will do it a couple of times in a game, but only every couple of game. He is also barrelling through contests deep into the fourth quarter and is a consistent four-quarter effort player. This is the gulf between what Cripps is and what Reid could be.
Now it's not surprising that Reid isn't there yet in regard to these attributes as a first year player but it will be what enables him to stand out the same way as Cripps does.
If Reid can improve his endurance and work rate over the next 2-3 years he truly will be a giant of the AFL.

Was Cripps ever corrected by the AFL/umpiring system in his first year, so he didn't get ahead of himself?

Harley should have got mark of the year as well. They couldn't let the pies go home empty handed.
:pointup:This is what one-eyed looks like kids.

Harley took some great marks but wasn't remotely close to Bobby Hill's (you could take your pick from the 2 he took in that same game) or Elliot's marks.

Heeneys finals mark was the best of the year easily imo
Disagreed, Bobby got the sit and the extra push off the shoulders, he moves sideways towards the ball after he's left the ground and his body is twisting slightly.

Amazing balance and one of the best in a long time. Great leap and prolonged air time with sideways movement back towards the contest after he left the ground, doesn't get much better.

Heeney's looks better because of how he fell, would probably be 2nd best but Elliott's is very good as well. It was a really good year for marks this year, the top 3 of this year could be winners any other year.

Harley hitting the vape at the AFLW tonight with the Duursma's. Good to see he's enjoying his offseason :tearsofjoy:
Lets not read a comment section of haters and throw our own players under a bus.

Harley appears to be biting his left thumb nail. He also has a finger guard on his left ring finger (seen at the Brownlow) and a ring on his left pinky (potentially a Whoop fitness ring).

Vapes, or rather exhaling post a vape inhale, releases high amounts of vapour, that he would not be able to hide in a stadium with plenty of people around and cameras focused on him.

If there is more footage, I will stand corrected, until then, lets be better.

* Yes, I am aware this is BigFooty.
