We've all entered into a state of torpor.
Sort of like on Boxing Day after lunch.
Everyone has said everything 10 times and we are in the between trading and draft lull. Nothing is happening and no-one can be bothered to have an original thought.
We might as well discuss shit-hole towns and suburbs and argue about attributions of sayings.
I accidently upset the natural order of the universe when I criticised Harley and mentioned the jizzy word all in the one paragraph. This caused people to start foaming at the mouth, losng their minds and babbling something about anal fisting?
No big deal, normal transmission will return shortly. Meanwhile at training the holy anointed one did his best impersonation of the pale white duke, while the suntanned and jubilant Elijah tore up the tracks alongside little Longy.

It's been all quiet on the Harley front, low key, not much media attention.
Am sure it will rev up towards round one and it will be exciting to see him in the new game style with a couple of new buddies around him.

Hope it’s a sign of the new world. Guy got harassed and the same media that did that will complain if he leaves.
Always irks me when Gossage asks every person to do with west coast a question about Harley. Like wtf man this is unrelated.
I guess it's partly due to him not training much previously with his concussion protocol, and other newbies soaking up a bit of media attention, a good thing, probably enjoying it. But yes, it'd be great if the media (Worst esp.) back off a bit this season.
Inmho I doubt he'll be leaving, especially if our new coach/plan/team all clicks into gear. He's also got a few associates around him now from footy days back home.
Should see him in full flight post xmas, with Hewett+co, be a thing of joy!
Hope he gets treated a bit fairer from the umpires and tribunal next year as well. Club hopefully has had a word with him about keeping his cool to the umpires even when they're letting him get blatantly scragged.
Did you know his tackle last year was the only one of the entire season to get graded high impact? Every one with concussion was graded severe and every other was medium or low (or not graded at all). Literally the only time potential for injury was used for a tackle the entire season.

Have looked at what Bontempelli did in his first season, and then the increase into his second season and applied to Harley to see what he might be looking at stat wise if has similar increase in performance.
Notes: The clearances won't jump to 11 a game, but ~24/25 touches game is a reasonable goal.
Oliver - the sheer % increase in possessions will be hard to to match, but if he hits 29 touches a game we will win a fair few games.
Looked at Petracca as another similar player, but he didn't have much of a jump, he was stuck playing forward for years before he got full time midfield burn.
If anyone wants me to do another player let me know, as i have the spreadsheet good to go...

I wouldn't be surprised to see Harley have the typical "second year blues". Hasn't started preseason well and these days there's not much time to catch up when you're behind the 8 ball.

If 14 got us Baker AND the guarantee that the media stop hounding Harley then it turns from a bad trade to a massive win.
Somehow I doubt that was part of the negotiations though and HR will be back page news again in the new year

Not sure where you get your info from, there seems to be a lot of enthusiasm and new energy at the club? The trade didn't make me depressed, quite the opposite, haven't felt this charged up about the team, coach, new players and our prospects for a few years!

Can't really see Reid averaging more than about 25 touches a game.
He doesn't need a lot of the ball to have a big impact on games.

Yeah, his tank isn't anything to write home about at the moment and his start to this pre season has been anything but encouraging so far. At the moment I've considered any game north of 18 disposals a win...Christ we need an accumulator in the worst way.
