Curious on the what peeps think about Drapes playing as a key tall, now we can see how he moves on field in the last two games and can see how he approaches a contest and anticipates.

Not advocating for the move now but in a handful of years, will we see him locked in defence, or moving fwd, even as a pinch hitter like Cox has?

We know fwd is his pref apparently, and depth availability will determine where he sits, but there's something very enticing about a silky 3rd tall like him floating around Treacy and Amiss.

Lack of KPD depth and we’re targeting LMac. No chance in the foreseeable future

Let him lock down 3rd tall defender first, if he can do that well it could release Chapman up the ground which would be more advantageous IMO.

Given he moves like someone 190cm, he's probably the long term replacement for Ryan. The roll-off guy with the added benefit of being true KPP height.

He's already gone past Chapman. Love the Chappy, but he needs a run at it. Poor fella.

Chapman was never a key defender so this comparison is irrelevant IMO.

Still like Chapman is in the top 5 most talented players on our list. You don’t play players like that as a KPD, especially when they’re 5cm undersized against most KPFs.

Chapman is very important for us to get right if we want to win a premiership. With all the leg ups other teams get we cannot afford anymore Anthony Morabito stories this time around.

IMO Chapman has never been a KPD or even a third tall so this comparison is irrelevant.

I still think he’s a top five player on our list in terms of talent. I know that’s a big call given how much footy he’s missed. You don’t play players as talented as him as a KPD especially when they’re 5cm undersized vs the majority of AFL KPFs.

With all the leg ups so many teams get we simply cannot afford for Chapman to turn into this generation’s Morabito. I want to win a flag and Chapman reaching his full potential will be a massive part of that.

We’ve got six KPDs on our list (Cox, Pearce, McDonald, Draper, Davies, Murphy) and will only ever play two of them if Ryan is available.

Almost no one has someone with 80+ AFL games as their third best KPD. If Draper and Davies were any closer in their development the club could’ve tossed a coin to see who played. They’re both ready.

It’d be one of the deepest sets of KPDs in the AFL.

Cox on return takes Hughes because Draper just looks all class. He adds another really decisive and clean layer to the backline. It's scary how identical his style is to Johnson. Glad (not for the injuries) that he has a good amount of runway in the team with Cox and McDonald out. Should give him plenty of development even if it ends with going back to WAFL.

Going to be an important piece in our backline for the future, you can bank on that.

He's not important.

And, what's this magic number about 5cms? He's that same height as Charlie Curnow and 2cms taller than Pav.

Get a grip.

Oh, I thought you were being ironic. You know, because of our 6 KPD's.

Carry on.
Very hard to classify as proper depth when 3 of them listed are in their first or second year and KPP take several years to develop. And the other three are all extremely injury prone.

I think you were right 3 weeks ago but Draper hitting the ground like he has, Davies legitimately looking to have a step forward as well and suddenly things have changed. Some clubs would kill to have the depth we have now.

Give him some time in the main team and he will grow into a seriously quality defender, has Michael Johnson qualities to him.

Which is exactly why we need Draper to stay as KPD and not swing forward for the forseeable future
