In a busy day of trading the Cats added Marcus Drum from Fremantle, lost Shane Mumford to Sydney and secured four selections in the top 42 of the national draft.
Marcus Drum joins the Cats in return for pick 49 in the national draft. Drum has played 22 games for the Dockers since being tabbed at pick 10 in the 2005 draft. He debuted against Sydney in round 13 in 2006, and helped Fremantle reach the finals for just the second time. Drum won Fremantle's Beacon Award for the best up-and-coming player after his debut season.

Nope. But as i said if we get anything for him thats great.

And with Mumford going its now more likely that he will be traded to you guys for either #33 (unlikely) #49 (probably) #65 (what's the point really?)

IMO. But anything could happen i guess.

Was right in the end.

Good luck to him, I'm sure with the change of environment he should be able to change his attitude and you never know he may push his way into the side.

How long does it usually take to de-Freo a player?
Good question. Seems he has been well and truly Fremantled.

Have we ever taken a player from Fremantle before? I'm not sure we have.

You guys just reemed us, Drum still has a lot of potential and we certainly should've gotten more than pick 49.

Right now I am undecided on Drum...but will give him a chance it's a wait and see situation...for pick 49 it seems okay...and he was a top 10 draft pick and seemingly rated by people outside of Freo as well....good luck to him and welcome to the club...Jesse Smith?...I don't know about that one...would rather Wojo of course

I think you may be right. By all accounts the draft this year isn't that deep so 49 is not that flash.

I think all the teams know how weak the draft is hence the crazy amount of players swapping clubs.

with picks 5 picks + drum

Depends if we also wanna upgrade Laidler. If so thats 7.

Add Donohue to that list.

Quite like the pick up. We wouldn't have done it if we didn't see something in him. Will be good to see if we can 'de-Freo' the man!

Good trade for the cats, not so for us.

Drum is slow, but positions himself well and has good disposal. Can play forward or back, but most seem to think he's too small for kpp.

Has good leadership, though didn't really show it this year when dropped to the wafl he sulked for the whole season doing nothing, until being recalled for the last few games where he did pretty well. Probably didn't fit Harvey's player attitude profile.

Good value pick up for you guys.

Donohue and two of Lonergan/McKenna/Djerkurra. Laidler to be elevated

I would like to see one of those picks up-traded with Wojcinski if we can't fit him in, and another traded for Smith.

That would give us potentially four picks in the top 42! and we could keep Lonergan/McKenna/Djerkurra for at least another year

Reminds me of one of my favorites, Andrew Mackie, same size.
Hope he settles in quickly, he might surprise us. Fingers crossed.

Good luck, Marcus.

Welcome to the Cats Marcus.

We do things a bit differently to the warfies who supposedly don capes. We like to play football that way it should be.

We play our grand finals in September too, not whenever we're rostered to play the Eagles. :p

As a Freo supporter, you should be used to that, although this is the first time we haven't done it on the field. :p
