Some may have missed this from late last season. A good insight into how he came from out of nowhere to be so highly fancied for the MSD.

Ridiculous for a player that tall.
By way of comparison, Blicavs before he focused on footy ran a 1500 PB of just under 3:44 and a 3000m PB of 8:19

So his peak 2km race pace as a full time runner would’ve been roughly 5:15. So for Ramsden to be within 50 secs of peak Blicavs is good going.

Sam seems to be hinting that Ramma will be seen as a forward at senior level this year.

"I think the competition between the three older lads (Lloyd Meek, Max Lynch, Ned Reeves), who are all 24, they've been competing and one guy gets in front then another guy gets in front, they've all got different skillsets as well. So watching them compete has been really good. And Max Ramsden has come in pretty fast to be honest. He's probably still a little bit green but it wouldn't be outside the realm of possibility that he's getting into the side and causing some damage but in a different way."

Max just needs games, time at BHH will tell, if he isn’t in our best 22 by end of season super surprised. An athletic runner HHF at 200 cm, can do 3/6 your kidding. Teach him to take a mark, tackle, add a touch of accountability OMG lift the lid on the kid!

If my coach said “it wouldn’t be outside the realms of possibility”…..that I might get a game…

I’d be a tad disappointed to be honest.

Sounds like a full year to consolidate at Box Hill, with maybe a game or two at AFL level near the end of 2023, makes sense. Then extend the contract to 2024 and hopefully he begins to play AFL footy.

I'd say a 19yo ruckman that was picked up in the mid season draft probably has some self awareness that the comment was a good one.

So he won’t jump to the conclusion he will be seen as a AFL key forward at some point this year.

Which is entirely sensible. 👍

Every time Sam, Hale or Hickmott talk about Ramma they all say a similar thing. That he improves with every game, so to coin a phrase “it’s not outside the realms of possibility” that he comes on again in 2023.

HedgeFund … like others have said, I think you focussed more on the negatives instead of, what I certainly see, the positives. If Ramsden got a game this year it would be to show him the “show”.

I have watched Ramsden in his U18 games and in the VFL and can say without a skerrick of a doubt, he is NOT ready for AFL as a ruckman or a KPF.

He has the tools to be as good as the future Luke Jackson. But he is coming from a long way back. If ever our people need patience, it is for Ramsden.

He will be worth the wait.

Had a further listen to the Cal and Sam chat and Sam mentioned that Ramma is “ …obviously not a big physical man like the others but his running capacity is impressive… so he’s in his first preseason but he’s really set quite a benchmark on work ethic around the gym, he’s in the gym before breakfast and then after breakfast and he’s in the gym after training…he’s one of those guys that will leave no stone unturned”.

Love it. He’s putting in the work. Could be the most exciting talent on our list in 12 months.

A few more games like the one he played against the Suns and the lid will be officially off.

I can’t remember who it was against at BHCO but he had me sit up in my seat at home when I saw his contest and follow up at ground level.

Was that the game against Geelong? He had a couple of moments that day iirc.
