Throw the kitchen sink at some more mids for the draft. Ward, Newcombe and Maca to get better.

Need pace pace pace.

I was actually really surprised that we bypassed Carmichael in the midseason draft as he was as close to a Jai Newcombe version 2.0 backstory as you can get, so obviously we really rated the talent of Ramsden.

The chatter on him early on was that he was a top 3 lock in the MSD, so I think we just couldn’t pass that up when he was there at 6 despite other needs.
The only Pick that didn't make sense was Adelaide, which allowed Carmichael available at our pick.

West Coast got the best Mid
North full of mids picked the best needs base(stacked with mids and rucks already)
Essendon took the best talent ~ best skilled player in the draft
Adelaide ?
GWS already stacked with rucks and mids
Hawthorn took best potential and need
Suns ?
Port ?

Ramsden just had to be picked before Carmichael, had such little exposure and a 200cm player that can move like that is too enticing, junior years messed up by covid, gets hurt and doesn't play when games actually got underway, just the type that bolts into mid first round calculations.

Mid season draft pick trading would've been interesting,

Won’t surprise me if he plays mostly forward at box hill. He moves so well and appears good overhead. Would run vfl defenders off their feet with his endurance. Would be highly valuable if he is competent forward and I’d develop him there first with short stints in the ruck (as opposed to full time ruck).

So, I mean, he's Luke Jackson right?

A reliable source at the club who has an ear in recruiting told me today that whilst not expected to play seniors for at least 12 months he is a really exciting prospect. His skills and agility for his size gives him a massive up side and potential.

Could he end playing the David Hale role as the forward/second ruck? How is Ramsden’s forward craft?

We can't forget the elite tank! He's an athletic package at that size and looks like he has some really good game sense from the small bits of vision. Could be anything

Im glad we got him but derksen looks really good tbh anyways hope he can build to something special

I also liked the potential of Derkson … and talked him up … but honestly only because I thought Ramsden would have been off the board before our selection.

Ramsdon fits our player profile and list rebuild perfectly.

His progress at Box Hill will be intriguing to watch.

interesting thought but if we could get him a full time game after the bye against the dogs he would be a really interesting type to play the sub for the remainder of the year, it would fast track him for next year and he would be the most versatile player on our list for a mix of positions.

I’d figure the sub would be horrible for his development. He’d spend most weeks not playing at all.

Just let him learn the ropes at VFL level. No need to rush him in.
