I think you're correct here, and I believe we did offer him one year but would not extend for two. Membrey has been a great servant but looked cooked this year prior to the final 5-6 weeks, when he really turned it on and played some good footy. We have Owens and Sharman set to replace Membrey, who likely would have spent a good chunk of time in the VFL next season if he stayed. All the best to Skunk - you've got a handy 25-35 goal medium forward for the next couple of years.

As someone who was open to Stringer I'm very happy with this signing.

Tim mightn't have as many tricks in the bag but he's the better contested mark (at either end), still provides a strong avenue to goal and is the more solid citizen.

Another plus for me personally is that his sister and mine are both nurses and work friends at Latrobe Regional Health in Traralgon.

I have a sneaky suspicion that Membrey will effectively replace Checkers. They'll try Checkers, McStay, Membrey and Cox and realise it's top heavy and Checkers will be the one to make way.

Checkers will likely end up down back I think. Dean has been given another year but I don’t think he can cut it.
