I don't think Perryman will play much midfield next year. I think that's a post Pendles and Titch option.

Yeah I got got that impression from leppa too. Said a variety a roles but seemed non committal

I’d wager he’ll play a fair bit of it since it’s almost a guarantee there will be injuries week to week. I reckon he’ll rotate between mid and half back with Crisp.

We're batting deep. I think Sidey will stay run with. He was very good. We'll hopefully start the year +3 in terms of mids to what we had for most of last year. Jordy, Nick, Sidey, Titch Pendles won't leave many minutes for Crisp and Perryman. Hopefully Allan kicks on too and they have re-signed depth for the midfield roles as well, so you can't write them out either. I think he'll get some rotations, but it'll be with an eye to 2026.

We’re batting deep but our midfield is old and with age comes injuries and decline. I wouldn’t be relying on any of Pendles, Sidey or Mitchell to remain uninjured next year, despite how resilient the former two have been over the journey. Jordy will inevitably miss games through injury, he always does. Allan still no sure thing.

This year we had to rely on Long, Sullivan and Bytel for long periods. I’m not expecting a miraculous injury free run next year.

Yeah 3 out at once and he might get decent minutes - if they'd prefer to bring in someone for a flank and play him mainly mid rather than giving some midfield games to Allan or Sullivan or Long. The issue though is our depth players are mids unless some young flankers kick on.

Also with the (mooted?) abolition of the sub that will allow veterans to have more rest, and I expect tog for the likes of Pendles to drop as a result

Isn’t he coming for greater midfield opportunities?
I think that was a bit exaggerated, he mentioned in a podcast. he wasn't promised anything of the sort. Long term he'll get more opportunties through there, but think he'll be happy to play anywhere.

Apparently that’s not happening, despite protests from the aflpa.

Shame… that rule change should have helped us with our additional depth added. Regardless, at times we might see the sub being a bigger name veteran…… Pendles, Mitchell, WHE, Sidey, even potentially Elliot…

He signed a 6 year deal - It doesn't take Nostradamus to see that in the next few years some spots in our midfield will develop.
100%. Unlike Cornes, I think we are looking to the future - just not the 3 to 13 years into the future that you get from 18 year olds. I'm expecting him to play flanks with the odd midfield rotation this year with an eye to him taking over a midfield role when the oldies depart.

I wouldn't at all be surprised to see the quartet of Crisp, Pendles, Houston and Perryman rotating between half back and midfield / wing (Jaicos on the other wing) as needed next year.

That will hopefully make it harder for opposition teams to just go with a single hard tag on Naicos, as we'll have an improved mix of size, running and good ball users as options to rotate through the midfield group when needed - Naicos, Jaicos, DeGoey, Mitchell, Pendles, Crisp, Steele, Houston, Perryman, McCreery(?), WHE (wing?).

Time will tell to see how they all gel and how things play out, but I'm bullish about our midfield depth especially if we can keep Mitchell and DeGoey healthy.

Now he’s had a true Magpie welcome hahahahahahaha
