I think last night demonstrated more than anything, the results of inexperience. The two mistakes in the last that lead to Sydney goals where something Mundy doesn’t do, there’s half the chance we win the game without those errors. I’d also be confident with another 50 games and 3 preseasons, Ras doesn’t make them either.

The progress is there each week though and I still think the same on Ras, think the ceiling is Parker / Cunnington type if he puts on weight which is exactly what the team needs. Just need to persist with him
I'd bite your hand off at Cunnington. Super player that was underrated because North suck and he was always cheap shotting players. Also had zero media presence.

I am in the too early to call camp. Give the young fella another 12-24 months. All the peeps I know with a South African background are proud sporty types. He won't leave any stone unturned and won't die wondering. He will build a tank so he won't just make silly mistakes in the last 30 minutes. I see MJ is also getting tired and gave up in some of the chases. Freo needs a JDG type. Can we recruit or buy one?

We'd need a top 10 for a JDG in all liklihood. Maybe next year if we don't play finals we might find one in the draft.

I like Hall and I think he would be a good mix with our mids.
Inside/outside player and let’s not forget Fyfe was a second round.
I've not seen Hall play but if he was tracking to be JDG I think he'd be in Twomey's top 10 at least.

You might get Fyfe at 20 again, but you're odds aren't good. Closest thing from outside the top 10 lately is probably Warner and he's just fast not so powerful.

I just don't see enough hurt factor by foot with Hall to justify him with the North second rounder. But if we don't take him there I doubt he then falls to the next pick.

The only difference I see from current mids is size. What do you see in him on the outside?

I’ve liked his positioning in the U18’s games, if WA were a better team I
think he would get more attention.
At 17 playing for Peel seniors, he is raw but you can see a player in a better
system.
His kicking at Peel is to be expected with the size and pace upgraded.
His kicking for WA with better forwards, hopefully he slides like Johnson.

There’s been a few comments coming out of FFC for a while about Erasmus’ work ethic.
Can definitely see it translating to his physique- great to see and will only give him more confidence to match it with the bigger mids.

He was one of the hardest runners last pre season

He has an incredible work ethic. I really hope it translates to more game time and a bigger impact. He can play both inside and outside mid or flank so he offers versatility

Going to be an interesting watch this season. He really needs to be playing every game in 2024 now as a third year midfield selected in the top 10 of the draft.
If we can’t squeeze him into the full time mid role then get him to fit into the side on the half forward flank with stints though the middle. It’s the coaches job to optimise his talent and endorse he is contributing to the 22, even if it’s not as a full time inside mid.

Work ethic never been in question, how is his pace coming along is the real question

Surely got a specialist coach trying to fix that

Skill sessions too, can definitely get a specialist
Yes good point. You can improve your speed substantially with a sprint coach. People mistakenly think speed is inherent and you either have it or you don’t. That’s true to an extent but we don’t need Erasmus to become the fastest player in the list. We just need him to become marginally faster. That would be huge for his game

He just needs explosiveness in the first five metres

I didn't know that so that's promising! He has an elite work ethic so you would back him in to increase that pace.
