There was certainly a section on here who wrote Neale off early.

From memory there was a derby early on where he had a couple of turnovers from poor kicks out of D50 and there was quite the pile on on here afterwards. People were saying they couldn't see any attributes that would make him an AFL quality player even though he'd already shown the ability to rack up possessions.
I absolutely guarantee you there will be recentish posts, from people on here still, saying that it was massive blunder to make Neale sub in the GF who had previously posted stuff mid season 2013 saying he should be dropped for Michie.

Seems we’re about as consistent as the team.

What?

Neale played 23 games in his first 2 years of AFL.

Nobody was saying he wouldn't've made it. He was a gun from day 1.

If someone called you on an opinion, that OK. But come on man. Be real.
you missed my point , Not many were saying he wouldn't make it .
But most had him in the foot soldier , B Grader category.
I said A grader which was not an opinion shared by many.

Neale sub in the gf wasn’t a blunder imo - he wasn’t the player then a lot of this board seem to think. Good part of the squad and no more at that point - obviously he developed his game further after that.

He obviously hadn't reached his peak yet, but he finished the year with 21-26-24-26-30-28-17 touches, and then had 21 touches and 6 clearances in the win versus Geelong. He wouldn't have been in our top 6 players in that game, but still around the 10 mark. Then relegated to sub after we brought Johnson into the side.

The blunder wasn't the grand final because we weren't going to make unforced changes to the side after making the big dance. The blunder was making him the sub for the prelim after being in our top 10 players the week before. Suban was under some injury clouds (hamstring/ankle) at the time and should not have been given preference. But Ross loved his role players.

I still say Ballas should have been subbed.
Its believed he was Ill before the game but nevertheless he was putrid .
It was probably the worst game of his career.
Zac being subbed out simply left us with too few talls to hang around in the forward line.

When do we start to discuss the job Sutcliffe did on Gunston?

He should never have been on Gunston in the first place.

Don't disagree one bit, not sure who the alternative was though?

McPharlin - Buddy
Dawson - Roughy
MJ - Hale / Bailey
Spurr - Bruest
Ibbo - Injured

While doing this exercise i looked at our list, it has some high-end talent, but it was pretty atrocious.

It was a shame Ibbo was injured cos he was the man for Gunston
