Tackle pressure is off the charts. Just hunts blokes.
He could easily playthe Puopolo role as a pressure forward from day 1.
Just give him a single KPI - 10 tackles per game.
That's all you have to do Cody.
Anything else is a bonus.

Of course that's a stretch, but if he manages 6-7-8 tackles, he will have done his job quite well.

Every player who is drafted has something.

Cody Anderson has competitiveness as his something.

Often we talk about focussing on what a player can do and not what they cannot.

For Cody, what he can do (being an aggressive competitor) is already AFL level.

What Cody is not good at should be his focus. If the Hawks are good at developing players, we need to help Cody be not just competitive, but also creative and effective. Cody has shown he can be these things, but with proper development he could hope to match Jai Newcomb.

We needed a power mid and Cody is perfect.

Awesome canvas for Sam to work with, just needs to run him through the Mitchell kicking academy and we potentially have a Prestsia type creative inside mid with burst speed.

Maybe infused with a bit of Newcombe tackling and physicality just to elevate him a little more.

Or just maybe his competitive will drives him to become his own player , and he ends up a level above even this.

Hairstyle aside - reminds me of former favorite Brad Sewell with the way he hunts the ball and chases.

Has electric Cyril speed as well, and that bigger frame. But Brad knew his way around contests when the bodies were cracking in, no doubt. Always found a way to hip escape from tackling pressure.

Another interesting player.
Obvious strengths and Obvious weaknesses.

Not sure our midfield needs another limited ball user. Pressure forward?
I'll look forward to seeing this kid in action.

I'm not down with all the machinations of drafting and trading, can someone please explain to me how such a promising-looking prospect slipped all the way to the mid-60s?

Not complaining, he does indeed look like a beast, just curious.

For a pick in the 60s, I think he is likely to debut sooner than later. Most never debut at this range.

He is going to struggle to shift our existing midfielders so it will be a matter of whether he can become a good forward that can also do well when given stints through the middle.

I like players that willingly do the tough stuff first and foremost. He appears to love it. Good luck young man beast, we are right behind you.

Going to endear himself very quickly if that's the work rate and intensity he brings.

Combined with the nickname (and the fact that it still makes sense at Hawthorn) and the hair, could be looking at a cult figure.

Regardless of if he plays this year or not, you have a guy who is going to crack in with game level intensity in every training drill, rain, hail or shine, and that's contagious.

Love what we're building here, a team full of standard bearers.

He has a crack, that’s for sure. Going to be fun to watch him at Box Hill.

I’m not on board with all these posts about him playing next year, our side and particularly our forward line where some suggest he will play is stacked.

Maybe not next year but with Punky and Gunners likely on their last legs a spot (or two) in the forward line is going to be open very shortly.
