Competed ok in the first half but didn’t have much of an impact and was just gassed by half time, and went possessionless in the second half.

Worth another couple games - especially against North - because we are invested in development. But if we are picking a side most likely to win next week, Kosi has a decent record against North and is more likely to impact

We must play him next week.
But if he can't get a kick against North it would be another bad sign.
He was thrown to the wolves today but he hasn't shown a whole lot down back either.
If he was a rookie pick how would he be viewed? My guess is... very dispensible.
Faith is waning but if Nash can make a go of it I guess anything is possible.
Needs a break out game and soon.

Makes you wonder how much the guy wants it if he hasn't got the tickets to run out a game. For a guy wanting to be in the senior side you'd expect him to be fitter than that.
Endurance training requires a lot of discipline. And it requires an understanding of what training improves what parts of the energy system. I strongly suspect dgb does a lot of junk miles. A lot of runners of all distances plateau because they dont do enough slow running (zone 2). Heaps of science to support this. Zone 2 is the only way to encourage mitochondrial adaption. The hard part about zone 2 is its boring as **** running slow. So you can think you are working hard but actually you aren’t working the right part of the energy system to improve it. His lack of improvement suggests an issue with his training and i suspect it is he runs too fast for the capacity of his fat metabolism to get the proper stimulus.

Kosi has his deficiencies as we all know but one thing he does possess is an AFL level fitness base.

DGB is going to continue to struggle forward or back until he gets this.

Actually the real question is whether he has the capacity to get to this level. Some people just don’t have the capacity to greatly improve their aerobic capacity no matter how hard they train.

That’s why we have never really seen his positive traits, he’s basically running in empty after half time.

His fitness is a bit worrying. Camera caught him in the second term and he was too tired to lead. I thought they'd sub him out but I like that they didn't.

He has plenty to offer if he can go 4 quarters with the kind of competiveness he showed at the start of the game. Hope he manages to snag a few goals next week and play out the year.

Showed a bit, and it’s worth persisting with him being a forward.

Definitely can be an aerial threat, but needs to work on getting to more contests to use that threat.

Giants were set up well when we didn’t win it from centre clearance, so it was a rough gig coming up against Taylor/Buckley. Hopefully he can kick a few against Norf next week

You lot who say he did bad... I find you as those in the wrong.

DGB was up against one of the best players in the AFL.. and we constantly failed to hit up targets.

It is stupid to think any fwd could be effective given our fwd entries.

I saw a time he could fly for a mark and did not. I know DGD is slight of weight …. but his value is in marking the ball. Sam Mitchell wants our guys to be bigger to defend

DGB …. could be something as a fwd

Edits in italics: a poorly written post. But the point stands, he should be persisted with as a fwd.

Oh, so he’s not a knob this week?

Did he get a couple of 'knock ons' but?

Would have loved to have seen Lewis get a few knock ons.

Hard to slate Denver's performance when our #1 man got absolutely pantsed.

Loved his endeavour and hit the packs hard but not sure how we keep playing him when he can't run out a full game let alone a half. Wouldn't surprise to see him get another go at it this week, also wouldn't surprise if he is dropped this week.

Interesting career statistical comparison between the class of 2020 talls.

JUH
Disposals: 9.29
Marks: 4.21
Goals: 1.24

Thilthorpe
Disposals: 10.87
Marks: 3.74
Goals: 1.08

McDonald
Disposals: 8.72
Marks: 4.00
Goals: 1.28

DBG
Disposals: 7.79
Marks: 2.92
Goals: 1.00 (in games played as a forward)

Note, Cadman is also averaging 4.33 disposals and 0.56 goals per game. Sam Darcy is averaging 9.00 disposals and 0.5 goals.

Please can we persist. He is 21, all prick and ribs at the moment playing against fully developed men who are 15-20kg heavier than him.

For reference, here is Sicily when we drafted him:

Depends on what you mean by persist, of course we keep trying to develop him.

I don't think he keeps his spot in the AFL team for this week, if you can not run out a game you have no business playing.

Ash Brown made an interesting comment on the HI podcast player rating in that he was gassed by HT but interestingly was that he was considered lazy / didn't work hard enough on the track thru the week. was surprised as I thought he worked hard?

Denver is getting all the excuses under the sun... its time to start performing or at least show more than glimpses

Will be interesting to see if he retains his spot this week.
I guess you could mount an argument that Max Ramsden was only given the single game to show his wares
Given our current state of list development I favour two or three weeks as a better sample size.

One game would be stiff for him but a few more games would be good. Stick him down back... if there's room. Give Frosty a rest.

Brandon Ryan is a forward who is worth a look.
