Passed his test of being competitive (maybe even slightly beating) an established ruck in Witts.

Baring injury you’d have to think he is locked in as our first ruck for the rest of the season.

I do love the way he grabs the ball in the centre and boots the ball forward. Would be a hard man to bring down in a tackle when he gets some momentum!

If he could just get better at his marking he’d be right up there with the top liner rucks.

Good to see Lloyd doing well , I always thought he had something. Was a beast at WAFL level for us and just needed games I thought and a bit of belief from a coach

Good trade by you guys O’Mera sucks

We definitely came out ahead in that trade. Meeksy is looking very solid this year.

I do wonder what your recruiting / trading team were thinking with that trade? It was pretty obvious to all of us here in the Hawks board that JOM was cooked by the end of his time at the Hawks.

Did he?
He won 7 clearances himself, including 4 CB clearances. The most on the ground.
Stats don't tell the whole story. Where did the clearance go to? To the naked eye, Witt's had his way with Meek. But that's not a slight on Meek. Witt's is very very good ruck. It's actually a shame we took Ceglar and not Witt's. He would be serving us well in a post McEvoy era.

I thought Meek was ok but let's be honest he got destroyed by Witt's at the stoppages.
That's probably fair.

But it's not often Meek will have to play against a guy of Witts size.

If Meeks is a Heavyweight then Witts is a Super Heavyweight, the dude is fricken massive.

I still enjoyed Meeks game though, it's so good to have a ruckman who can provide a physical presence at the contest.

Thought Xerri had the better of him at the ruck contests, but Meek was very good around the ground, and the 2 goals were great.
Meek lowered his colours in the ruck and around the ground to Xerri but his two goals helped make up a little ground.

Have been pretty impressed with him since he came into the team. Has a better Hit out to advantage % (33%) than Gawn, Jackson, Witts and a few other established ruckmen - and that’s with an underperforming midfield. Should keep on improving as the year goes on too.

Meek has been excellent since winning the starting spot.

He is mobile, a tireless worker, is really combative, is laying tackles and really tries to use his size and strength. He is hitting the scoreboard too and has been good with ball in hand.

Not many people saw him playing anything but a relief role this season (not me), never mind playing at this kind of level (me). I think it's safe to say he's probably surprised everyone.

An unbelievable rise to first ruck after looking an also ran till a month or so back.

The most significant improvement in a Hawthorn ruck I can recall. Just absolutely re-invented his potency around contests, and most every aspect of his game as improved as a flow on effect.

Much higher ceiling than I would have believed, is now a genuine option on transitions through the middle, and dare I say creative with. ball in hand.

Lloyd Meek. Hats off to you. It is incredible how much he has improved or just grown in confidence in such a short period of time to really showcase his skills. People had written him off completely and had no hope for our ruck. But in a matter of weeks he has made the ruck position his. What he has shown is that we can have a number 1 ruck that can offer more than just hitouts. He can mark, kick a goal, be a reliable kick around the ground, tackle and compete.

Really liked what I have seen from him and I think he can add alot more strings to his bow. With guidance and mentoring from David Hale I believe he can become a predominant ruck who can also go forward and provide a strong tall target in the forward line and be a helpful contributor to our scoring each week.

Marking is the something he still needs to work on to raise his game to the next level as he is still not great in the air.

I do love the way he is impacting the contest with his bullocking clearance work though. You could see glimpses of that ability at times last year but he is doing it much more consistently this year.

Makes a huge difference to a team when you have that big physical presence in the ruck. We have missed that for a while now.

Big lump of a lad. Not the best tap ruck-man I've ever seen, but he's growing into his game. Up to Noodles to get better at around the ground.

Not really Meek's role to grab big marks in the forward line, although that would be nice (he has to get there first). It's to bring the ball down to scavengers.
