Yep, either Duursma or Wiz for that exact reason. It became apparent that North were taking Duursma, and from that point on I was 100% in the Wizard camp.

Never once gave any thought to us taking Sanders. Was obvious that we wouldn't.
I didn't think we'd take Curtin either, but was slightly less sure.
The Doggies tried desperately to trade up and snatch Watto from us. I haven't done it but if you look at all the picks they traded to actually get to a place where there had a slight chance in getting him it's quite laughable. Just like us they knew the quality he possess and with all the tall forwards they already have he would've pretty much completed their forward line.

Probably flips the EF result if they had him.

If you're in the box seat to draft a player like we were with Watson - seeing a club do everything they can to move up to take him surely validates your interest and locks you in to making sure you pick him? I know there are lots of games played around who drafts who.

It's like the auction bullshit that West Coast were holding for Reid. Surely after they saw clubs throwing 2x and 3x first rounders at them that they knew it would completely reckless to do anything other than draft him.

I would have taken the three by firsts if I was WCE. They need more than one star. But then the 2024 trade period has shown that they aren’t exactly the most strategic.

I reckon Sam and the club really need to consider telling the players to protect the little master. A few times during the season some of the opposition really gave the Wiz a hard time after he got a free kick etc

Any opponent that starts rag dolling him or standing over him we all need to come in for support ALWAYS! Don’t try messing with our Wiz and try picking on your on size!

I'd rather Watson got the free kick than the umpire pull-out an extremely soft reversal.

We already have a reputation that sees umpires on a hair-trigger - why give them an excuse?

i think Nick thrives on that kind of attention anyway. you don't grow up that cheeky without copping a few 'accidental' knees/elbows in the pack.

I actually reckon he loves that sort of stuff and doesn’t need that much protection. It’s a big game to him to get his opponents salty. They over commit to trying to smash him and he gets easy free kicks.

Got a birthday cameo msg thing from him for my birthday - word for word “got my head caved in on the weekend but ah well” while smiling

Wiz can look after himself.

He's a tough little bastard.
