Funny how Tucky has somehow played 50 games for Box Hill now :p

I think we might mean 50 games in the Hawthorn reserves
Glad I read to the end before responding to that.

Was going to point out the same thing.

Correction, U19's, ressies and then the Firsts.;)
Yes you are correct. I used love rocking up early at VFL park to watch all our young ones coming through. A day at the footy literally used to be a day at the footy... good times 👍🏾

Abso bloody lutely. Even the ressies game meant something, and come half way through the last quarter the crowd that was there would start taking a serious interest in the outcome of the game. The noise rising and laughs and groans rang out as opportunities were wasted or special moments suggesting future promise at the highest level unfolded. Transistor radios got tuned to games you were following or to your own if you liked the commentary, thermoses wafted coffee and soups from crocheted laps, and the scoreboard ticked over to show all the games at other VFL grounds happening at the same time.

It was bloody glorious.

The game is obviously now up so I must admit to not following a lot of the lower comps/leagues in Melbourne before I was born & through the first 8-10 years of my life, from Perth.

Out of interest, when did the Reserves & Colts comps stop & VFL alignments kick in?

Does VFL have a Colts system?

Nah. Victoria has the NAB League for under 18s and the odd 19 year old. The VFL used to have a developmental league but it was canned.

Is NAB League the TAC Cup or is that different again?

But probably nowhere near as nicely
He isn't an oppo supporter, and his grammar was fine. I would have been courteous as a diplomat.

TAC Cup/NAB League started in 1992, before that they were u19's at each VFL/AFL Club inside Victoria

in 2000 Victorian AFL Clubs had to merge their Reserves Team with a VFA(Victorian Football Amateurs) Club and form a new VFL(Victorian Football League) Competition, we chose not to go as Hawthorn in the VFL but to align with VFA Team Box Hill who are in the East of Melbourne and as we are the Eastern most AFL team from Melbourne, it made sense, they were aligned with the Eastern Ranges in the u18's at the time and still are, which btw is one of our NGA zones along with Gippsland

recently the Reserves for VFL Teams got canned, i think it was after 2017, so the guys not playing in the Box Hill Team play Amateurs footy at their local comps.

so when talking about Tuck ect, they played u19, then Reserves in their apprenticeships.

The VFA was Victorian Football Association which was not an amateur competition and not to be confused with the VAFA Victorian Amateur Football Association which was an amateur competition. Many of course question whether the latter is strictly amateur as some clubs attract top players with “career advancement opportunities”.

Didn't age very well Tops

Hey at one point last year I had hopes we could get Cogs and Whitfield in free agency and then trade up to get Anderson with our first pick and then Maginness with our left over picks. I guess 1 out of 4 ain't that bad 😝

f*** me... hows the poise on that? from 0:11 in the 2nd video... look at that clearing kick under pressure.... nails a bloke between 3 opponents within a 10 metre radius.... the pick up at 1:45! very excited now.
Definitely has a heap of skill and creates space. Doesn’t do too much - seems to be always thinking of the next best move.
