Dunno about that, I heard the commentators say several very complimentary things about him. I get the whole media biased against us but don't see it really with Day. Let them fawn all over Rowell, Pickett etc we know that we have a player who could easily become elite

Exactly. Pretty much every time Day gets the ball the commentators make some remark that is along the lines of "this has been a dreadful year for Hawthorn but at least they've got this kid"

What a great selection this has been. Just moves so smooth and has great composure. He is a good mark and kick and has excellent hands. Once he fills out a bit more, he will move into the midfield and I think as early as next year. Call me biased, but from what I have seen of him and Anderson, I think Day has shown more in the past month and looks like his ceiling is higher.

And won it no less, takes a really good defensive effort to spoil the ball going back with the flight like that and not give away a free for front-on contact.

Didn't he follow it up with a smother on the boundary line too?

I think the most exciting part about Day is how he senses the moment in a way, which is something really good players do. If he marks the ball in an advantageous position he'll play on quickly, he'll do his best to take the game on when we're behind. I really like it in a player.

I keep saying it, but he has all the attributes of a young Fyfe, who was also a string bean with rangy arms who could compete aerially and get himself in and out of contests.
We will no doubt be looking at how we can turn him into a similar weapon with a few preseasons.
