Wonder whether the Hawks will try something radical like play him as a CHB and see if his work ethic improves having to chase someone.

I just cant see him making it as key forward/ruck any more...

I would of said mid-year yeah give it a go....now, I think he is just a lazy, lazy footballer.

Found it interesting that Vickery polled the most votes out of any Hawthorn listed player at the Liston last night.

See how each Box Hill Hawk polled in the JJ Liston Trophy:
11 Votes – Andrew Moore
9 Votes – Billy Murphy
8 Votes – Ty Vickery*
6 Votes – Jack Fitzpatrick*
5 Votes – Brendan Whitecross*
4 Votes – Harry Morrison*, James Cousins*, Kade Stewart*
3 Votes – Billy Evans, Chris Jones, Sam Switkowski, Teia Miles*
2 Votes – David Mirra, Marc Pittonet*, Max Warren, Nelson Lane, Will Hams
1 Vote – Taylor Duryea*, Jager O’Meara*, Will Langford*

2 more votes than similar type player Fitzy, who missed half the season...

There were a couple of games where he kicked a small bag of 4 or 5 goals. That's where he would have got the votes. When you're 3 inches taller than every other KPP in the VFL and/or 6-8 years more experienced, you would think he'd be doing it more often.

Easy to say but there are very few big bags kicked in the VFL. A 5 goal day out in the VFL is like 10 goals in the AFL because you've gotta deal with terrible weather, substandard grounds and worse delivery.

Fred Cook did alright.

It's ironic that so many posters have stated that our club had to get the "Richmond" out of Ty. After watching the Tigers last week (whilst our players holiday in Europe) it would be kind of nice if Vickery had a bit of Richmond circa 2017 in him. Can't turn a trick!

Maybe Richmond had to get the "Vickery" out of them. Been pretty impressive this year while we turned to shit pretty quickly with Vickery in the mix.

I feel a bit sad for Tyrone.

The bloke is a VFL player who got drafted into the AFL.

Do you really?

I know bucket loads of people that are working their arses off for companies, trying to get ahead, or trying to make their own businesses work that earn pennies compared to this guy. This isn't someone who has been unfairly dealt a hand. My Richmond mates said he was always lazy and would not put in the effort on the track or match day. It appears he is the same for us... I feel for players that get into the system and bust a gut but for whatever reason it does not work for them, e.g Woody, JOR at the moment, the kid Alex from Sydney... I feel for Dayle Garlett more than this guy. His story is really sad...

Tyrone does not work hard enough and he can only blame himself for that. I'm assuming that when he graduates from law and after the initial excitement of having him join Corrs or whoever thinks it will help, as JBWere did with Hird, he'll be out, as they realise he doesn't work hard enough, disenfranchises the other staff and (unlike Hird at the time) he does not have the client attraction.

Sorry to be blunt, but I have no sympathy for Tyrone. Balls in your court, not your Misses'...

Agreed. I was trying to be diplomatic. I don't think he belongs in the AFL system to be honest, but he's in our system now & we have to deal with it. I'm not hating on Ty but I do hate the situation the club finds itself in.

Sweet, glad to see you're adding this much to the conversation.
The grounds have to be up to a certain standard or the game is called off. So that theory is shite.

The weather is no worse than what AFL players who don't play at Etihad are dealimg with, plus he has been training at Artic Park since October 2016, which has no shelter from the wind and weather.

The delivery has been better at BHH for Vickery's strengths than what it has been at Hawthorn with their 'high ball to the top of the square' BS forward structure. Even if that wasn't the case, there aren't any 200cm KPD in the AFL with 7 years of AFL experience and 7 preseasons of weight room bulk.

Glad to see you adding so much to the conversation, simpleton. Can't believe that had to be explain to you.

So I'll say it again, don't make poor excuses for his poor form.

100% agreed savage. Vickery's ruck work was poor at BH and as a key forward, Fitzy showed more.

Am sure the off-field stuff with Jake King did not help his year, but he's hardly had complete turmoil to deal with.

If we could trade him and pay half his salary I would be happy. I just don't see anyone being interested.

If the rumours are right, the Hawks are certainly very unimpressed with his onfield and offield 2017.

I suppose we could look at:
Hawthorn Premierships with Vickery = 0
Sydney Premierships with Buddy = 0
Now weigh up cost + time investment versus outcomes....
It's equal.

We have 0 premierships/$ and so do they.

Is this muppet still on our list, even if we don't find a suitor to orchestrate a trade,
delist him now where going to do it at the end of next season anyway. Save time and develop a rookie in his spot. Cut our losses pay him out.
