Kicked a tonne at a young age with Deniliquin Rams in the Murray football League .
Kicked a bag a couple of times this year including once against Coburg . To small to play KP .
Reads the game extremely well not over quick and is of solid build .
Might struggle to play AFL with Edwards there as they are similar although Lloyd is probably a little smarter at reading the game eg. crumbs from pack etc . And probably not as good set shot .
Unusual selection given the RFC list IMO although does suit age bracket .
Good luck to him by all accounts a ripping bloke .

First thing that came into my head when I saw the highlights ..... he's a slighty younger version of Azza Edwards.
The plus is he sure knows where the goals are ... some of those goals are freakish.
Probably comes down to the fact he's capable of kicking three or four from limited opportunities and say six to eight possessions whereas Nahas might snag you one from 12 possessions.

Also think he'll benefit plenty from a solid AFL-type pre-season as opposed to what's expected as a VFL or Mornington Peninsula player.
Seen plenty of gun suburban and country footballers in my time that you ask the question how would they go being super-fit and in an AFL environment. I guess I'm going to find out!

first player that sprung to my mind was a little bit of Russell Robertson. Seems to play tall and small, can take a big mark and has a fantastic goal sense.

Good to see him lay a few strong tackles as well. Hopefully thats a big part of his game.

Much better version of Nahas. Wouldnt be surprised if he snagged a few games next season.

He was called 'Sir Lloyd' by the frankston crowds cause he was special to watch. great pick up imo. big upgrade over robin nahas
Yep, massive upgrade on Nahas if he puts it all together, has a fair bit of size on Nahas so won't be sleazily pushed off the ball and hopefully he actually has a left foot.

Oh and before anyone has a go at me for invading this thread. I'm from Deniliquin, Sams home town. I'm stoked for him! Happy that he is at a good club like Richmond. Considering buying a membership because of it!
More then welcome to post in here mate:thumbsu:

WITH all three selections, I see a trend away from stacking the forward line with defensive type forwards like King, White and Nahas and us wanting to increase our scoring power and add some class.

Yeah it's a massive step forward IMO.

We always planned to build the back line, then midfield, then forward line.

Dimma said we work too hard for our goals and he sees room for improvement by increasing our efficiency up forward. I'm so glad we've focused on improving our scoring power. There's nothing worse that dominating games only to look at the scoreboard and just be 3-4 goals up because we waste opportunities due to poorly skilled small/medium forwards.

I went down and watched his 7 goal haul on a wet and windy day, think the slower pace of the game in the wet helped him, plus he was on Griffiths for a fair few of those goals. He looks promising but I wouldn't expect him to be knocking the door down next year, fitness isn't AFL standard from the games I've seen, hopefully a professional environment can improve that cause he's got great talent.

P.S. I know you were just having a laugh but Frankston's a beautiful place with million dollar property's and views over the bay, get's a bad wrap. Sorry as a resident it shits me when people rubbish it because of a few bad eggs, which all suburbs have.

Shame about the pier at the moment

Gordon and Lloyd have defensive games that are reasonable. They will chase and harass. But have the scoring power as well. No more selecting one guy for attack, one for defending. Guys should be able to do both.

Damn straight. Most frustrating thing about watching our boys for the last few years

Especially when we turn it over and the ball goes straight to the other end and the other team score

Happy with this pick up - small forwards was definitely an area we needed more options in (the whole forwardline is arguably the area of our team most in need of being sorted/improved). We are set for talls, just need to get a good mix of smalls and medium forwards in there - hopefully one of our recruits last night can become a 30-40 goal a season small forward!
