A few weeks ago I wrote what if Lalor was the next Jason Dunstall??

I looked at their heights.

Jason Dunstall 188cm, Sam Lalor 188cm, hmmm, not apples and apples but something to investigate at some point.

I mean if Sam kicks 100 plus goals, not saying he will, but if he did, f?ck it I say.

At this stage it looks like Lalor has the potential to be a better overhead mark than Dusty, maybe not as strong as Dunstall, but we shall see

The other point regarding height is at 188cm, the ground ball aspect hopefully is such Lalor is a goal kicking threat from this area as well apart from any midfield aspect so his goal kicking potential is more robust and confident
I'm 188cms

Am I the next Jason Dunstall?

Will be a gun player, what’s the likely chance he plays rd1 ?

Should be expected to play round 1. He was pick 1 and we don't play for 3 months.

Unless the hamstring injury is worse than we all know

Why? Cos he is a pick 1? I would prefer to see him conditioned properly so when he plays, he stays in, not breaks down. This is a long game, 2025 Rd 1 dont mean shit

Yes. If he can't be conditioned properly in 3 months of training to come in and play half forward with some midfield stints then obviously something is very wrong injury wise

The guy is a freak athlete he doesn’t need to be playing day 1. Ease him in get him right. These kids are long term prospects for us.

When was the last time the first pick in the draft (that wasn't a tall) didn't debut round 1?

Dunno and don’t care mate we don’t need him to debut round 1 we need him firing in our window. So play him when he’s ready.

Yes and what I'm saying is if he's fit and not injured he will play. History has proven this over and over again.

Zero chance they roll out pick 1 in the VFL.

Takes more than 3 months to condition a kid who has never done a pre season in his life, he isnt a veteran.

Sure. To condition him to be a full time midfielder. Will take years.

To play a role in round 1? If he is not injured he's playing in the seniors not VFL. Take to the bank.

He's done cricket preseasons though, so we know he's pissfit.

Pretty good off his pads and had a good square drive. Ready to go in the most competitive professional 360 endurance game on the planet

Kid has a fairly serious soft tissue injury and coming into his first ever pre-season. I wouldn't be putting any expectations on him to be fit to play r1. They will take a very cautious approach with him.

High grain strain on September 5. 8-10 week injury per Call Twomey.

Will be in full training soon based off this timeline. Probably could be now but kids gloves etc.
