I have a feeling that it will be another tick in the RFC recruitment box.

Going in recent RFC trade form at the least one of Knight and Chaplin will be a valuable pick up, with a decent chance of both. I'd be happy with the first scenario and double happy with the second.:thumbsu:

Agree goon. Knights injury history worries me but I reckon Chaplin is your typical bombproof type we've targeted ,just a real good ,reliable fit for the 22If knights comes up he could be super dangerous 30+ goal addition

Cheers. That's why I put up the TOAST thread. For the first time in my 40 yo memory we're being smart traders and playing the odds, not just hoping for a hail mary.

Im far from a fan of Port Adelaide but I think you have done real good by getting Chappy. He is a good defender and when I watched Port games he always looked good comming out of defence. I was surprised that Adelaide didnt make a play for him as I think he would do great in our backline, but I think the Crows dont want anything tainted by Port.
I think Knights could also be of great value, as a fit Knights, in form, is a serious weapon. Just got to keep him injury free.

Even if Knights or Chappy don't set the world on fire, they're still experienced depth which cost us nothing going out.

Grimes is a potential super Fletcher. Range is still learning and young but he is tough and honest and a serious backman whose disposals and contests get better each year. We have not had a big experienced good back man for decades and Chaplin will fill this role and make the other two power players, especially Grimes if his hamstrings stand up to it. We beat hawkers by 11, swans by 5, and with these three running the back line, Vickery, again a kid, returning from injury etc, etc we should easily win the flag next year!!

Yeh umm nah. Don't get your hopes up that high. Let's make the 8 first lol

Well the lawn is looking sharp again, and we got our man. Very happy boy. Yay us.
He's a Tiger now, let's give him some lurv, Barry White style.
Just when I was considering coming around to cut your grass when you're back at work next week.

i think rancey cracked a boner when it was announced

He wasn't the only one. I was in a meeting and had a break, it was 4:20pm and I knew I had a few minutes, was refreshing this page and just as I was about to go back in, I saw a post with the link to the Port Adelaide website saying they have decided to not match!

I spent the meeting very happy indeed.

This is a major boost to our structure, and experience and leadership. Rance and Grimes were very good together, they are going to have massive years because of this guy. I can't stress how good this get is. Blair Hartley deserves to be Knighted.

also, i very much hope that PAFC's comments about his knee not being worth the hassle come back to bite them when it comes to compo. and of course, their fans seem to hate his guts too, so they'd be fine with a 3rd rounder, surely.

Now this is what I like ,maintaining perspective and keeping a lid on it. Welcome aboard jammo

Can you tell why Trengove had a shit season and Carlile was average despite playing along side the football god, Troy Chaplin?

1. They aren't very good football players?

2. Chaplin played the wrong role. He won't be the LMID for us, but Rance and/or Grimes will.

3. They played under a coach and structure that was shocking.

I can give you more but cbf.

me too bob

flat chat all day in meetings. refrained from checking tweets to remain focussed.

Excused myself at 4.35 and prepared for the worst.....You little ripper, unbelieveable that we got this guy and he didnt cost us a 1st round draft pick. 150games 195cm and 100kg. Very excited about next year

Oh, but I thought Chaplin finishing 4th in their B&F means he is a gun full back? You are aware Jackson Trengove has won their Best & Fairest. :D
We are losing out if Grimes is the floater. He's a better defender than any other tall on our list. Will probably tear his hamstring putting his shorts anyway unfortunately.

Grimes plays his best helping out. His reading of the play is exceptional, closing speed, elite. You no longer have man on man, you defend in a system, we needed someone like Chaplin to come in to form that system. We don't have trust in Post and Griff for that role. Also, Chaplin brings exceptional leadership qualities and experience.

This was an absolute no brainer by us, but a magnificent get again by Blair Hartley. Some can be negative all they like, we just added two very important pieces for absolutely nothing. Nothing to be negative about here.

It's not about being negative, it's about knowing the quality of a player not highly overrating that quality. Already said Chaplin adds depth, does have some ability and that is good for Richmond. I'm just not joining in the circle jerk. Blokes reckon he's a gun full back. It's funny because that's not a position he has played in a number of years. And I doubt a bunch of Richmond supporters watched Chaplin play KPD as a youngster and thought "shit, this guy would look good at our club".

Ignore him, his default posting is negative

Welcome aboard Chappy, may you win second in our best and fairest
