funny that, and if Mitch was 186cm what could he have been? This fella looks like he's good and strong enough and could do some time in the middle as inside mid.

I was thinking about that after your post (dull office day so far) and if Mitch was 186 or more my best guess is he would've been something like Josh Kennedy (Sydney version) but with better skills. The thing to consider is if Mitch was 186, would he still have had the same kicking ability with the longer levers? Its a shame he didn't get a decent crack at his best spot as a mid. We the chance during the recent struggle years but it never happened under either coach.

But it is all relative to a lot of things is'nt it T...at present under 180cm players make up about 20-25% of an AFL. team when the average Australian adult male is 176cm. Still Mitch made it for 40plus afl games.

That's exactly the point though, you'll see guys around 185cm standing key position roles at park footy. The AFL is where the elite options for delivering footballing filter into.

If we had access to the entire world's sub-NBA and sub-NFL athletes I don't think any player under 180cm would play. If Knoble was as athletic and mobile as a player like Crowden he'd be pick number one.

The more unique the player is, the higher they will be drafted and we have bulk five foot ten hard ball winners with average footskills. It's why Allan was a first round pick, it's why Jackson was pick #3, it's why Darcy was pick #38. Sean is more common, his ability has launched him higher.

* I absolutely love that!!!😍 Obviously because of all the adversity and struggles he's overcome, but predominantly because he didn't say "play AFL" he said "playing for FREO!" 💜💜💜

WARNING: I may be preparing a house level of bricks if anyone is gonna steal this guy as my 2023 buddy.

Bit of cold water, but does he have high end pace? Looks very strong and has slick hands.

On naked eye I reckon he is the same sort of pace and movement as Shultz, so not top end but not a slouch either. I think one of the things with forwards is the speed of their decision making anyway, and he seems to make a call pretty quickly to kick for goal or pass at the level that he has been playing.

His draft profile says 8.16 agility and 6:33 2km but no mention of 20m. Can assume his time was 3+. May have good speed even if the acceleration isn't there.
The quickest time at the SA state combine for 20m was over 3 secs. Not sure what was going on but some of the players at the SA state combine are reasonably quick but still at that combine no good. They did the WA version from memory at my old school Wesley where I play basketball and we commented about how the courts were freshly cleaned and waxed and someone mentioned oh yeh the State combine testing had been done. Not sure the 20sec sprint testing from the SA combine is as comparable to the National combine.

Despite being mediumish forward height his highlights looked more small forward style play and positioning to me.

Yes I can't help but feel he is backup for Switowski and/or Shultz rather than an alternative for Frederick, Banfield, Corbett or Sturt; a defensive forward who can lay 6-7 tackles and maybe snap a goal.

A real positive from today. Well done Tom!
Should have played sooner by the looks of it today. Looking forward to seeing what he can do next season.

I hope he plays vs the hawks.

I dont have massive expectations next season. If he has similar out put like Sam Sturt in kicking 15-18 goals from 10-12 games next season, thats fine. Rotate that forward depth.

He can take Switta’s pressure forward role from round 1 next year.
Switowski is a midfielder and should be fighting for a spot there.
It’s not a bad shout actually. Could Switta be tried on the half back flank? He just doesn’t kick enough goals as a small forward. His dare and dash with the ball could be very useful across half back.
I think he might be too small for anything other than small bursts in the midfield.

Too small, will get exposed defensively like Daniel does.
