Preamble:

We now know what happened and we'd rather we didn't.

It's fair to say it's been a rough few weeks for all things West Coast Eagle. Murders on the ground, Murders at sea, and Murders in space, plus a particularly brutal Murder on the Gold Coast.

Thankfully there's some light at the end of the tunnel. The newly refurbished Mineral Resources Park is ready after that definitely planned controlled demolition a few weeks back, and Trevor Nisbettt (Definitely not a clone) has unveiled a new state of the art Holodeck with full state of the art safety protocols where groups of past and present Eagles or lucky fans can experience anything from playing at a full house MCG to visiting a 1930's SpeakEasy during prohibition to walking on the moon. After passing Quality Assurance it is now time for the first customer testing. Unfortunately a couple of Freagles may have weaseled their way into the first test group, and the safety protocols may have been deactivated.
Roles:
Freagles - Every night, the Freagles choose a player to murder. They are allowed to murder each-other if they really want to.

Seer - One of the Eagle players is incredibly good at noticing fine details and is pretending to be a psychic as that's easier to explain. Once per night the seer may ask if another player is a Freagle, and receives a yes/no answer.

Doctor - One of the Eagle players is a master in the art of preventative medicine. Every night, the doctor chooses a player who will definitely not be murdered. If that player is murdered during the night, they recover by morning. The doctor may use their ability on themselves. The village only finds out who the doctor protected if that person is murdered during the night. The doctor can save players from the vigilante.

Vigilante - One of the Eagle players has had enough and is going to take out some Freagle trash. Once every two nights, starting on night two, the Vigilante has to choose a player to murder.

Eagle - Everyone without one of the above roles is a vanilla Eagle.

Sequence of play:

Day/Night 1:

Day - Eagles introduce their characters.
Night - Freagles choose their first murder target.
Night - Seer chooses a target
Night - Doctor chooses a target
Morning - Murder is announced. If the murder is prevented, you find out who was murdered but not their role. If the murder is successful, the victims role is announced.

Day/Night 2/4/6/8 etc:

Day - Eagles vote to murder one of the players on suspicion of being a Freagle.
7pm - Voting closes. Votes at or after 7 will not be accepted unless they're splitting a tie.
Evening - Role of murder victim is announced. The doctor cannot save someone murdered by Eagles.
Night - Freagles choose their first murder target.
Night - Seer chooses a target
Night - Doctor chooses a target
Night - The vigilante chooses a target to murder.
Morning - Murders are announced. If one murder is prevented, you find out who was murdered but not their role. If the murders are successful, the victims roles are announced. It is possible for the Vigilante to murder a Freagle, and for the Freagles to murder the vigilante in the same night.

Day/Night 3/5/7 etc:

Day - Eagles vote to murder one of the players on suspicion of being a Freagle.
7pm - Voting closes. Votes at or after 7 will not be accepted unless they're splitting a tie.
Evening - Role of murder victim is announced. The doctor cannot save someone murdered by Eagles.
Night - Freagles choose their first murder target.
Night - Seer chooses a target
Night - Doctor chooses a target
Morning - Murder is announced. If the murder is prevented, you find out who was murdered but not their role. If the murder is successful, the victims role is announced.

End of the game:

The game ends when the last Freagle is murdered, or the number of Freagles is equal to the number of Eagles.

Turls was shocked. When he was told Ben Johnson had been murdered he’d expected to see an older black bloke, not this skinny young white fella. He looked around at his fellow prisoners...well, one of them anyway. Courtney looked distraught. She might need comforting later, he thought. He wandered off, humming to himself.

I still can't work out if the vigilante is meant to be a help or hindrance to the village.
Could go either way. The necessity to kill is definitely a negative for us eagles.

My experience from the game just finished on the SFA club board is you need a strong seer to direct the other role players. So basically unless MWPP is the seer we’re stuffed! :p

Well, with a lynching, a freagle murder and a vigilante wandering about, we're staring at potentially 3 villager deaths in one go. Quick game's a good game!

We desperately need a gameplan. There doesn't seem to be much buy-in for Ash's plan, but here's one that might have a chance -

1. The seer declares themselves to the group. No false declarations from other villagers. If we get moer than one declaration, we have found ourselves some sneaky freagles.

2. The doctor, who at this point would just be saving themselves each night, silently agrees to save the seer each night.

What are the outcomes of this approach?
- The seer gets to inform the village every day of what s/he has seen, with impunity.
- The freagles will have to scramble to kill the doctor.
- The plan works for as long as the doctor remains alive. Statistically, we should end up with a few night's worth of intel.
- The seer will be a goner once the doctor is killed. There is a certain amount of self-sacrifice involved in this plan.

Without this plan we are just randomly throwing darts at the board. I think it gives us a decent chance. Thoughts?

Nope, nor Vig nor Doc nor Freagle. I’m roleless again .

And I didn’t even know that the game had started (I thought we were still after more players ). I’ll get back to you once I’ve caught up.

I can understand that . It didn’t work out so well last time due to the seering me twice thing .

The only way this takes place is if the seer agrees to it. Even then, there will be doubt as to whether the doc is playing their part. However in theory it could work and I would urge the seer to give it a crack.

I don’t mind it . Some counterpoints
-if the seer wastes an action by opting for the same person twice . Even if they pick people in good faith based on logic they’re statistically going to hit good . And the Freagles have easy confirmed good targets to target overnight . And if the seer seems another good role they could clear them as a villager but it won’t clear them from death .
-if the doc is someone who is generally active , leading or astute they’d be an obvious target anyway and we’re stuffed
Basically a lot of luck is related to the role allocation stage .

But I’m ok with his

The other option is for the seer to declare themselves, but keep quiet their information until they hit a Freagle, then tell the village only who the freagle is. At the point that the doctor is killed, the seer can then give us all the information they have at that time, before the freagles take them out that night.

Why would a seer take a second look? I think it was done last game due to the conversion rule? Not in play this time.

I prefer this . Sure there’s a risk the village lynches someone who has been seered as good but we have to trust that the seer won’t allow that to happen. It doesnt give the eagles an easy out . And they can still subtly breadcrumb in other ways .
Let them reveal their seers when the doc dies

No, it was ultimately because the seer didn’t understand their own role which is always a risk
The conversion meant that I was 1/3 as likely as everyone else to be evil but it still happened went through anyway

Yeah it doesn't really matter if the whole group is onboard or not. It's all up to the seer and the doctor agreeing.

But the seer will need faith that the doctor (who won't be declaring themselves) is playing his/her role. Having said that, the freagles will unlikely be targeting the seer anyway, given that it would be a wasted kill if the doc keeps saving them each night. So maybe this allows the doc to save him/herself along the way...??

I was wondering whether to spell this out because it could be deemed too obvious but I’m glad you did. At the very least it would allow the doc to gamble if they ever felt threatened because of something they had said in the thread or due to who they think the Freagles are (rightly or wrongly, everyone has preferred targets)

Okay I didn’t want to reveal this on day bloody 2 but I am the Seer.

I hit Freagle on night one with my power and I will be killed for this but I figure us lynching a Freagle on our first go gives us the best chance to win, even if I die immediately.

guero aka Craig Turley is a Freagle.

I vote Craig Turley

I was thinking similar, to make use of the Seer and unlimited Doctor roles. The flaw is if we doctor gets killed, and the biggest risk is the vigilante. So I'd take your plan a step further and say we need the vigilante to step up and sacrifice themselves to the vote today.

I actually had
“Anyway , caught up now and Turley for me
Being coy about a theory earlier (please let it not have been that Daz is evil and killed Baz to silence those secrets ) is a deviation and tagging me in seems a deviation worrying that I’m a seer ” on copy and paste

This seals it for me. I believe you.

With only 2 evil it is very much worth taking one out straight away. Craig Turley thanks

Waiting for someone to counterclaim
But it‘s the first time I’ve seen you play as good so credit where it’s due to be able to nail both squashface
Most players seem better at one or another

Nice work Squashy. Doc, please play your part tonight.

I vote Craig Turley

Anyone who jumps on straight away after a seer claims is often evil
Yes that puts the spotlight for me so I’m a reasonable seer target tonight
I’m a villager but watch for the rest
Also watch for the abstainers

Doc please be paying attention and not absent

Awesome. To reiterate Daz and MWPP, Doctor, please do your thing and save Brant Colledge tonight.

Vote: Craig Turley
