Might be time they give it a revamp. Can't live on the back of Makybe Diva winning it in 2002 for much longer.
It is a 150K Listed race and deserves to remain so. Roman Arch won last year who subsequently won the Sandown Classic and Australian Cup. Coalesce, who ran second, has subsequently won two Group 3 races.

This year doesn't look vintage but it isn't that bad either. For the record, I think Jukebox Johnny at $11 on TAB Fixed Odds represents good value.

It is just a country cup- you can't expect too much.
Up and comers often win it so Danzippo looks good. Won't be having a bet though- about 5 others could win it.

What is it 10 of the 16 runners are on the limit weight?

I realise it suffers because of the amount of racing around this time of year, particularly next week, and its no worse than some of the other country cup fields, but to be quite honest I've found the main sprint race to be of a better standard at some of these recent country cup meetings and they race for $50,000.

I think we over cater for stayers in this state.

Had a feeling Brom would finally break through with Newitt aboard.
Had a great day on the punt, Backed 3/3 winners, got a tri and a Flexi First four (nearly 2 - bloody Blue Collar Jack).

For anyone who saw the race did Brom race on the speed or swoop home?

I was following my bet (Brindabella) which ran OK without placing but I think the winner raced handy to the speed and never looked like losing up the straight.

Leaders back, pushed Danzippo out of the way just after straightening & dashed clear to win easily.Thats as forward as Ive seen her race but that was the pattern today, any further back than 4th or 5th & no hope.

Is going to the Matriach on Stakes Day & will take some beating.
Sometimes these horse blossom after finally breaking through.
