I have always wondered, for the 'best' players listed on the WAFL wesbite, is this decided by the coaches? Most of the time I find I do not agree and wonder if there are other motives behind it.

Yes I assume so too as it's not the umpires. But how seriously do they take them? and is it sometimes to encourage players for their efforts rather than what we might see as the 'best'.

Probably there is an "encouragement" factor involved or maybe the votes are given to a guy who "did a job for the coach".

On the other hand and you'll see when our votes are combined with the coaches - I am in particular looking for players who had a massive impact rather than just the big stat winners.

Me or sportslime11? I wasn't at the matches this weekend. I like to watch from home online with my big computer screen, pen in hand, coffee or tea on the go and all the guernsey numbers clearly listed on paper infront of me.

Sorry SaintLoopy, I didn't see many games over the weekend either. I just know from the past this has been the case with the best players lists. Seeing the games live certainly helps identify the players efforts and the impoact they have on the game.

He is coming along pretty well. I was talking to a friend of mine who is close to the family today & he's an interesting story. Only been in the ruck 12 months & has shot up 4-5 inches in the last 18 months. Was KPD most of his juniors. That would explain why his skills, ball handling & contested marking is a bit better than most rucks. Still needs to grow another few inches & attend a few all you can eat buffets. Let's see how he goes when the real games start.

That's good to know. I was hoping that would be the case with the 2007 DOB talent we have plus the usual over agers, who influence the competition immensely as you know. Plus some 2008 guys. 2026 might surprise me. I've elevated Garrison Kenh up the list. That kid is a star.

That kid is top 5 pick next year, just as good as Kako and the wizard
