West Coast need an elite clearance midfielder. Who is it and what do they need to give up?

That is true... But I would rather Quentin Lynch on a 2-3 year contract.

Yes Darling is 191cm and 91 kg, do you classify him as a Key Forward or a 2nd/3rd tall?

Lynch is 194cm and 102kg. Hes a proper key forward and a useful ruckman.

I do rate Darling, but even if you wanted to trade him, you guys would offer too much.

With Kennedy out of the side in 2012 the 20 year old Darling booted 53 goals. Lynch managed 33. He (Darling) also took more marks, had more disposals and laid twice as many tackles.

I love the Q, but Darling has him covered in the key forward stakes every day of the week.

I see your point. Lynch would of been very handy For freo this season, with pav and Bradley, our only experienced key forwards out. Not to mention Sandi out for most of the season and big Jono Griffin out for the season with a knee injury.

Personally I would rather pay $500,000 a year for a 30-40 goal a season forward/back up ruckman in Q Lynch than 1.5 million a year for 70-80 goal a season buddy franklin.

If Darling was as good as a contested mark as Travis Cloke, I wouldnt mind trading freos 1st round pick (13-16) to get him.

I see your point of View... I agree that Griffen for Darling would not be a fair trade. Griffen is 26-27 and easily has 4-5 years of good football left.

Darling is only 20 and has developed well in 2 years. You know as well I do it takes a good 3-4 years of development to produce a good KPP. Zac Clarke at freo is a good example.

Darling and a 3rd round pick for Griffen and a 2nd round pick?

that trade is fair enough. Its just not really the type of trade west coast should be going for.

Yep, Lynch would be useful on your list right now - but that's because Sandilands, Griffin and Pavlich are all injured. If those guys were fit he would be playing for West Perth. Not a great use of $500k in salary cap space.

If Freo offered pick 13-16 for our 'not as good contested mark' version Jack Darling the response would be 'LOL'. Or 'No, thanks'. Nope, sticking with 'LOL'. Can we have Fyfe for our first rounder?

Even if Sandi and Pav were fully fit, big Q would be in the Goal Square. I wouldnt trade fyfe for anything.
He would be worth the $500,000 per year as he has proven to kick goals for many years unlike Mitch clark, who was offering $750,000 a year to play for freo considering his best year as a forward for the lions was 27 goals in 17 games.

Had a chance to get Moloney but lost out there. Shane Tuck for the LOLs :D

Nathan Jones if he wants to win some games?

Levi Greenwood. Interesting sort this guy, well out of favour at North but is the perfect in and under clearance midfielder size. Dirt cheap to i'd think

You may not have Tuck.

Isn't Priddis an elite clearance player?

In some ways yes. The quality of his clearances aren't that great though and he structurally doesn't help our midfield, overall our midfield is slow with average disposal. Priddis is slow with average disposal. He's a good player but he has deficiencies which we can't cover very well. He should be used as a feeder to outside types.

At WAFL level, yes.

He's slow, non-damaging and has no defensive game (yes he gets a lot of tackles). He's a good player, not a great one. Should be down the pecking order in a top midfield, not the chief banana.

When you say no defensive game, do you mean playing his role in a zone?

There's probably a very very small possibility of Mitch Wallis wanting to leave as along with Cross he has been left out for slightly quicker players (Smith, Hrovat, Stevens now Hunter) in recent weeks. If that keeps up all season he may be frustrated enough to ask to leave.
(A lot of bulldogs people will probably say impossible).

Lulz, father-son, anointed future captain, face of membership drive, only reason he'd leave if someone throws money at him....and who would throw stupid money at a 20 year old 33 gamer?

Surprised to see Gaff's name get thrown around - I understand you have to give quality to get quality but given how Gaff played on the inside on Friday (in addition to his excellent spread), I am hesitant to trade him as while he may not become an elite inside midfielder he is certainly handy there and is well on his way to becoming elite in other areas (Namely his outside game).

The tag has been a problem this season but he has outstripped my expectations of him in every way so far up until now. Growing pains like that are part of becoming a top line AFL player.
