Eagles can't win the GF because they lost in Melb to Collingwood.... So i guess that means Geelong should be ruled out too. Actually every team who loses a game at the MCG this year should be ruled out, unless they can beat a quality side who has no big name injuries and are playing at their best, hmmm starting to think Collingwood are the next GF Favourites

I just hope we get some interstate sides near the top, it could be an Eagles v Adelaide GF and then all your crap about WCE not winning a the G goes out the window. Of course when it comes to the final sat in sept. MCG form is meaningless, but i think we'd have an even better chance if we came up against an interstate side.

Well here's hoping Melb are close to full strength and we give them a 10 goal pasting, then the only reason people can use to rule out the chances of a WCE premiership is the old saying 'they need to lose one before they can win one'

Don't speak to soon....they win 3 in a row ...sit 13th on the ladder, and all of a sudden there at $41 for the flag and have a better chance over the Kanagroos who sit comfortably 2 games a head of them in 7th spot?

Over the next 11 weeks, they play, Geelong, Melbourne, Bulldogs, and the kangaroos all in Melbourne. Geelong and Melbourne will definately beat them, and the way the dogs have been playing so will they. WC also have Sydney in Sydney which they will lose, and i can see them dropping their round 21 clash to fremantle, who will be fighting hard for a top 8 birth.
When I read this initially, I thought "Some people remain unconvinced about the Eagles. Maybe we don't deserve to be premiership favourites."

I put collingwood so high, because if they beat Melbourne this week, i think they will only lose 1 more game for the year, the game at the Dome against Stkilda. We are winning without some of our better players, like buckley, our first ruck Richards, and our best CHF Rocca, but have an awesome replacement in Cloke.
But then it became abundantly clear that you're just deluded.

Eagles need to restructure there midfield before they can even dare to think about a finals birth.
Congratulations. You win the stupid post of the week. Please contact Groves for your Musashi gift pack.

Brown, Hartigan, Rodan & Tambling are more than 1 player buddy.

So are Wirrpunda, Stenglien, Gardiner and Sampi, and while Brown might have been the biggest single name out of the game, I'd say the overall outs were worse for the Eagles. Oh, and we had a six day break and had to travel. Our excuses are better than yours.

Still, we don't need to sook, we won. However, talking of sooking:

BTW, you can thank the umps for that win. That goal disallowed of Krakouers and the advantage decision to Bowden were a disgrace and in a close game like that cost us the match. No one likes to use umpires as an excuse, but 2 disallowed goals in a match decided by 2 points, in the end decided the game. DISGRACE.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaahhh, Waaaaaaaaaaaaaahh. Everyone can find a couple of dodgy decisions - say the free kick against Chick for laying a perfect tackle that you lot got a goal from. You actually got more free kicks, yet you're whinging about the umpiring.

The Krakouer one you can blame on Richo for hitting Jones in the side of the head in the shepherd, and the advantage you can blame on Bowden for not being able to kick - he did after all kick it after the umpire blew advantage.

However, if it makes you happier, have a good solid sook.

Good crowd Richmond drew too.

Looks like the wheels are rapidly falling off that bandwagon :p

Poor dears!

********en Richmond tools who think they are gods gift to football cos they are finally having a good year.

If you think having players like Tambling missing has more of an impact than someone like a Wirrapunda or a Stenglein then you are obviously related to Danny Frawley - ie NO ********EN IDEA. How can someone who has only played a couple of games be so important!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That win from the Eagles was our best for the year given we had some of our most important players missing (Wirra, Stenglein, Sampi and Gardiner) and had to travel coming off a much shorter break than the Tigers.

This business also about not playing well at the MCG really makes my D1CK itch. Its quite simple really:

Only good teams win away from home. Everyone says that we cant win in Melbourne but I can assure you this will change over time as our team develops and gets better. All this banter about "Cant win in Melbourne" is a complete joke.

Look at all interstate teams records in Melbourne. They start off shyte and then get better as the team becomes more experienced. The Eagles could not win a game in Melbourne in the late 80's but come the 90's you didnt hear anything about the Eagles not being able to perform in Melbourne.

2 Premierships later that theory was shoved up everones a$$hole wasnt it. The team then got old etc etc etc, we have been redevoping the last 5 years and yes the Melbourne record has been poor but now we are starting to see the emergence of a good team again and just like Brisbane and just like Port and just like the Eagles of the early 90's this team will win away and will play good football away from home for the next 5 years because we now have some talent on the park.

Its all a vicous circle. Anyone who doesnt see this is a complete moron.

We might get spanked by Melbourne next time we play in Melbourne but that doesnt mean anything cos at least we know we have the 2nd youngest mob going around and we are still sitting pretty with only one loss. This team can only get better and wins on the G will eventuate just like they have on every other ********en ground in Australia that the AFL makes us travel to.

The wheel turns you stupid fools!!!!!!!

If only the WA teams had 19 home games a year like the Tigers, and they still complain and whinge!!!!!!

My top 8 will be as follows

Melbourne
Geelong
West Coast
Collingwood

Richmond
Adelaide
Freo
St Kilda

So you take the form of one team after round 11, and disregard the form of another to porve your point. I don't even have to show the flaws in you argument, because you have done that for me.

Darren Glass is the one they absolutely need to stay fit. Lose him or Hunter to a lesser extent and they are in big trouble.
Hansen, IMO is the key, but lets be honest here, how many teams win premireships with a back-up spine ??

i'd agree with the hunter and glass statement, i mean we saw how costly it is without glass on Saturday when he couldn't get back to richo in time and Jones was left on him. Richo had an easy mark and goal which i think put them in front.

As for not being able to play without Judd either you are being sarcastic or just stupid. How many touches did Judd have against St Kilda? so far this season i would say Cousins and Fletcher (and probably Braun too) have been more influential than Judd. I would actually put Judd alongside Embley and Kerr in terms of on field performances this year.

oh and Hansen would be a great boost to us if he presented and took contested marks all day on the Half forward line for us in every match but great performances in a couple of games and a couple of good matches does not make him the key to our success. Although i will admit if he could replicate those great games, every game then our chances would improve greatly but i think we can win without him.

How significant are mounting up huge stats in massive victories ?

I think we all saw how signficant and important Chris Judd is in the last few minutes on Saturday !

The great players step up in big and important games and the crucial stages !

Without Judd id suggest we'd still be talking about wce's inability to win in melbourne lol :)

yet if Kerr only has 15 touches, half of them coming in the last quarter to steer us to victory we are told he is an inconsistent bench player being dragged along with the success of the rest of the team

For me 5 goals in the first half or 5 goals in the second half makes no difference, the skills it took to get the football and dispose of it with quality is the measure of the player not when the touches came. Oh and of course like every other eagle fan i am a HUGE Judd supporter, but the fact remains even if Judd was still eligible for the brownlow Cousins and Fletcher would have more votes than him.

brownlows are irrelevant - Judd is the key to the premiership, he doesnt care about individual honours he's focused on team success/premierships. he's prepared to sacrifice himself and do all he can for the team !

he still gets the most attention and is still the key - clubs still place the heaviest tag on him in comparison to any of your other players !

we all saw how wce got r*ped by collingwood without judd lol :)

that's just it, i don't believe any one player is the key to the premiership for us. Having said that if there is one player who i think we will need inorder to keep winning games this season it's cox. In the midfield we have enough players to keep running through, no judd then the tag goes to cousins or fletcher and the extra possessions go to chick, embley, sampi, kerr or whoever get a run in the midfield instead of judd. Up forward we have no irreplaceables mainly because we don't have anyone who has taken ownership of the forward 50 aside from fido who could actually play in the midfield if needed. Down back i would rank Glass just behind Cox in his value to the teams success as before he found strength and form we had no-one who could play at FB.

As i said i don't think any one player is crucial to our premiership chances but if you had to chose someone it wouldn't be someone in our midfield as we just have so many players who can step up.

thats it, if there is one player that is key to the eagles chances, its not one of the midfielders, we are 12 deep with good midfielders right down to the WAFL.

no, if there is a key to our team, its our only elite player over 6 foot 6

huh , you got no prespective lol

you must have missed the games against the pies and richmond, your not exactly a stand out team or way above the level of other teams in this competition at the moment

who do you think opposition coaches and supporters worry about and tag when playing you guys - judd - you would be 0-2 at the mcg this year without him and i still maintain he is the key to your campaign lol !

agree to disagree i guess :)

id go judd then big cox - gardiner could always coverage for big cox if he goes down (no pun intended) - judd is irreplaceable however - no depth player can do what he does ! :)
