Both late to footy. Tighe may have spent a year or two at Yarraville I think.
so that's like spotty saying all there juniors came through there system when actual they came from other clubs because parents were told you had to go spotty Werribbee Williamstown juniors or hoppers to get a invite to the jets that's why those clubs always dominated to junior ranks

Im not privy to the exact circumstances surrounding the reason for Tighe coming to Altona. It could be for the reason you have stated, or it could be that he had school mates he wanted to play with, he may have moved suburbs. Who knows. I'm sure he would tell you if you asked him.

So a player in the reserves plays 5 games & he gets a 1 point reduction.
You develop a under 18 player for 2 years possibly & he stays at 3 points when he steps up for senior football.
How stupid is the system.

Tighe played 16s and 18s , goetz same . Think didnt hit the 40 games , due to western jets etc

That's one of the rules of the PPS that makes me shake my head. If the player is registered with a local club, is playing for that club during the season and a TAC club picks them to play at that level, that TAC Cup game should count as one played for the local club. Local club is seriously disadvantaged by that rule. A player could be registered for 3 seasons with a local club and play only 20 games for them due to TAC Cup committments. Not the fault of the local club and penalised for having an above average player on their books.

Pretty sure that rule is there to stop certain clubs cheating the system and recruiting/paying kids to play 18s

It stops clubs from poaching AND paying kids to come and play U18s after playing all their Junior footy at another club so they can have point reductions when they play seniors, similar to a club did a few years ago!

Rule should be simple:

Either only played at your club last 3 years and/or has played 50+ junior games for your club = 1 pointer
Played multiple clubs last 3 years (< 50 games at your club) = 3 pointer

3 years for a junior footballer is usually somewhere between 30-50% of your junior footballing at one club, so its a large number at that stage of your 'career'
To play 50 games at a club, given juniors are only 14-15 games, then you would have already played 3-4 years min at that club
If you're new to footy and never played at another club and you start at the U18 level, stay at your club, 1 point...
Kids who played most of their juniors, left for any reason (moved, family, friends, school/work) but have already played 50 games return as 1 point.
All these situations promote kids staying at the club and it not penalising the club for playing them in the seniors.

If you haven't been at the club for 3 years or already played 50 games, then your 3 points, pretty simple.

If club want to poach kids 3 years in advance, well good luck to them, it's a lot of work over 3 years to save a point or two here or there.

What era are you talking about?
