Re: Western Region Football League team

Dont think Parkside won enough games. they only got up twice. in saying that him and Dorewood are the standouts, so if anyone was to get votes it would be either of them two. Heard from a few St Albans people that Agius will win the league medal, i cant see that happening but they said hes been there best all year. Prob gonna be like last year, when the top 10 were all within a vote or two of each other. Think Goring will poll well from Sunshine, umpires seem to love him. Keenan, as much as id hate for it to happen, but will probably poll well due to the number of goals hes kicked. Really is very open this year, just like the race for the premiership is. Can definently see Spotty being beatable, they had Molan and Monty out against us but i still think any of the top 5 can beat each other on there day. Lookin forward to Albion this week, been rivals for a long time and Albion would be rapt to be back in the finals.

Yeah fair call but the way the votes go you might only need 14 - 15 votes to win most times the umps throw in an opposition player for a vote and maybe that will be Juegan on most occations. Me i think big Caddy might be the one, should get at least 3 BOG's.

Also cabby did we have a few injuries on the weekend?? Can you fill us all in.

Mate if Mick Agius wins the Priest i'll f**ken top myself. Seriously what has the league come to if a hang out cat wins the WRFLs highest honour. He sits on that wing and just waits for some easy ball. Don't get me wrong he's a good player, but there's gotta be some better blokes out there to win it. Where have all the tough blokes of this comp gone? It's full of hang outs now. There are only a hand full of players that go in and get the ball these days while the rest sit back for hand ball recieves. I realise every team needs these players to estabish linkages but there must come a time where they need to put there head over the ball and win some contested footy.

Honestly who do we really think will win it?

How far back am i thinking, who might this be?

Re: Western Region Football League team

Rock do you honestly rate this bloke as a high quality player? Not only is he one dimensional, soft hearted, and a hang out...but once you get inside his head he is done. As a tagger all you have to do is stay on his left (cause he has no right what so ever), be fit to keep up with him (which once the mental battle is won he will stop running), and read the play as a hang out would (which means be a soft c**k). From both games i've seen him play he's been covered easily and shut down when played tight and smart.

Any opinions?
think you have wrong opinion of shannon champ hes not soft if anything is 2 couragous for hes frame always at bottom of pack getting getting ball out the match committee put him on wing saturday to shake the tag and get him in a 1 on 1 situation with no 7 who has very limited ability which showed this up ? dnt no what your meaning of soft is but it is not boardbent and hes no hangout

Like i said to Rock mate i can only go off what i've seen in two games. And i'm gonna stick to what i've said. Still don't think he's what everyone has talked up. I guess we'll just agree to disagree. As earlier posted i've said i'm a yarraville supporter so i'm just curious on your opinions of the first time yarraville met albion at home and broadbent was tagged out by that same player your refering to? It's one thing to defend your captain, but you must agree he got a bath that game?

Re: Western Region Football League team

Yeah we did cop a bad run actually. With ackers already out for the year we can add connor who broke his arm on the weekend, in what can only be described as a bullshit after the play incident involving jensen. corys been a real gun for us this year, leading our goal kicking from a forward pocket. Also doesnt look good for benny davis who may have done his knee again. Got a few back in this week in Mentha, Quinn, Cam and Scotty Mc who are prob all in our top 10 footballers. Just shattered for 2 blokes to go down in the last round, as those two blokes are real Sunshine people... so hopefully we can win a few for them.

Re: Western Region Football League team

Think he may be talking about Arena, possibly! but not sure... In regards to Broadbent he has been great against us both times. Probably there best player on both occasions. Suppose only seeing teams twice a year makes it hard to judge certain players, but from what ive seen hes in the elite midfielders of the league. Hard at it, fit, and keeps racking up the touches. Can see why he was given the Albion captaincy. That said, hopefully he has an off day this sunday!

i didn't get the chance to watch him this year, but i know Rock's been talking him up earlier this season - Boofa Macnaulty's gotta be up there for the medal this year. Freak of a player and would be a very deserving winner.

Crackers will be up there too.

For the sake of the debate, Broadbent has a crack and whilst no superstar he has a red hot go and is certainly one of Albions better recruits. First year in the comp and has done well in my opinion.

Whilst on the subject of toughness and bravado, can you enlighten us to an incident a few weeks ago now, involving your number one sponsor and the goose who wacked him, costing your club not only $$$$$ and also loosing a loyal servant to your club ??

harris from spotty would be a fair chance, he's in the best a lot and they only lost one game and he played well in that match i also wouldn't be suprised if keenan won it, wrfl umpires love giving votes to red headed full forwards

Just seen on the WRFL website the record for the finals. Got an interesting face smiling back at us! haha...

Yeh mate your way off the mark here. Obviously you've only heard wind of a few things because this happened pre-season not a few weeks ago and i don't even need to go into details because you've got no idea. This has been done and dusted at yarra.

Also i never debated that the bloke could play footy, just talking him down as a chance for the Priest as this is how the original debate started.

The timing of the said incident may be incorrect, all the same, you can enlighten us with the details if you like. Anything that contributes to the "culture" of your fine club would make interesting reading to us uneducated poor soles.

Unlike most of the people that get on this forum i'd prefer to leave it to footy talk and let clubs worry bout their personal business themselves. Speculator i'll leave it up to your speculation to figure out what happened but it's best if it's just left at that. Obviously the outcome is not something that is desired down at the club because they need all the support they can get.

It was worth a try. Anything to spice up the thread. I will continue my belated investigation when I call into the big fella's pub for an ale or three. Cheers..................

Read two posts above mate. Like i said i'll just leave it to what people think they know. I know exactly what happened and i'd prefer to keep it that way.

Seems as though you may not have seen the incident properly as you were hanging out on the wing picking up cheap posessions. Conner was wrapped up in a legitimate tackle by Jensen which by the way is part of the game when you get in amongst it !!

Shannon took his time settling in. Didn't have a great first half. But has been fantastic in the second half. 5 BOGs in a row.

Well no need to drop into the Mona for a beer as the chest is here to enlighten you on the situation. Here is the story.
After every away game yarra players were asked to go to the Mona castle for a feed and a beer to support the clubs sponsor, seems harmless enough so all was good.
After the hoppers game in rd 2 players went to the castle for the above (between about 6 and 7:30pm). Some players stayed on and had a few more drinks (as most people do).
The clubs owner and seddon resident and clubman (Cluffy) had a few too many and had an altercation (verbal) in his bar with a former yarra player who is still around the club.(not sure what it was about).
The past player was with current playrs and they decided it best to leave the bar and call it a night. Cluffy did not see it that way and followed the players outside and had some more words.
Words were exchanged back and forth and cluffy threw a punch at the past player and collected on the chin. The past player then landed a monster hook on cluffy knocking him to the ground (not sure if knocked him out) and the yarra players left.
The story goes on as cluffy was putting in a lot of cash to yara seddon and he subsequently pulled out his sponsorship which hurt the club. The club tried to reconcile with him but he is a stubborn guy and did not want a bar of the club.
It was his fault and he has hurt the club in the pocket. He also had some of seddons money tied up somewhere and did not release it until recently, but not sure about all those details.
So speculator there is the story.......

I seen what happened, and it was in no way fair. Cory had gotten rid of the ball a long time before Jensen decided to sling him to the ground. No need for it, but i suppose its part of him being Spottys enforcer. Would love to see him run around and do it against the Parksides of a few years ago, or the Colts now. but ur right, maybe i didnt see it cos i probably had the footy.
