Sunshine do have a couple of players out at the moment. Tom Millar is probably our best player and he will be back in about 2 weeks. He can play ruck or even centre half forward which will give some direction and allow Stenhouse to play closer to goal, where he has looked very promising and is capable of kicking bags of goals. Steve Pearce has retired which has hurt because on his day he is more then capable, strong hands but not the most accurate shot at goal, still is a massive loss. Forward line hasnt really been settled of late, usually goals come from stenhouse, connor always kicks his 2 to 3, and the on ballers chip in. Grainger is out injured too, and hes always handy for a couple here and there. Overall we would expect a massive improvement with the inclusion of millar, along with bairdy at fill back, who has returned from overseas. Other then bayden yewers from a few seasons back we have never really had a true full forward kicking 60 - 70 goals, which we may need.
Pearce a good full foward in his days, good luck to him in retirement. Good honest player

tommy millar is a very good player when hes up and going but i would have to say benny foley is the the best player at sunshine absolute gun and to think he was playing 2nds footy just a few years back biggest improvement i've seen in a player

tend to disagree, foley is the most unaccountable player going around, floats around doing his own thing, probably why he isnt playing each week at willy. acreman would nearlly be the rolls royce at yc.

Tend to agree with you clicketyclix, about Foley that is.

Re: Western Region Football League team

I know at the team i follow they first worrie about shutting down Acerman, he is like their barometer.

Re: Western Region Football League team

so what are everyone's tips for this weeks games.
HOPPERS v's altona
seddon v's SUNSHINE
SPOTS v's albion
st.albans v's COLTS
yarra v's PARKS

The winners in capitals i think most games are easy with hoppers building on their alredy massive percentage.Sunshine to have a goal fest agianst seddon
Spotswood i think just over albion at home but if albion want to make the finals these are the games they must win and with spot suffering a few injuries against the colts it might be an upset.
St.albans colts should be great game, although st.albans have turned over alot of players a win against parks last week would have give them alot of confidence gouing in to this game ,however the colts are set for this game after theie embarrising performance out there last year and this classy outfit should continue on underfeated and lastly i think parkside will bounce back against an improving yarraville.
Although last week i tipped sunshine to beat hoppers it was a bit tounge in cheek but i will be serious from now on but fairly confident that i'll get 5 right this week just a bit worried that albion will upset spotswood, any way wish all good luck this week i hope your side has a win and everyone stays injury free.

GO COLTS

yeah floats around getting the ball on a string is what he does so shows nobodys accountable enough 4 him and he would b the only 1 from sunshine to b on willi's list so thats saying something as 4 akers very good player but hates the attention given to him and is easily got to, could throw ash comer in there aswell very tough footballer

Agree with 4 out of 5. Just think Albion will get over Spotty, they get scared very easily, very soft side.

ash comer wont be to hard at the footy this week sitting on the sidelines for suspension (rough play = 1 week)

Agree with the tips posted by rock. I think when push comes to shove, spotty will overcome albion.

Are Yarraville aslo a chance to beat parkside. Many people talk about the tumoil the maggies are facing, or maybe they will just click into gear this week and give the tigers a football lesson.

Re: Western Region Football League team

herd a little whisper that no 12 for port colts will withdraw from the team this week and probably wont play again this season due to ongoing stress fractures in his feet i know him well and the boy has pushed his feet to thier limits and can no longer walk around in comfort

WHO IS NO 12?. SENIOR PLAYER OR RESERVES?.

Re: Western Region Football League team

Newman back to the colts is the biggest recruit of the season in the wrfl.
Can he and Clarke work together in the forward line??we will soon find out.
My opinion is that they both can work out of the goal square, with clarke being the leading forward and newman propping in the goal square taking those hangers that he takes alot of.
Newmans also very capable at c/h/f has very strong hands is quick off the mark and can kick the ball a long way.Either way there is no back line in the wrfl that can keep (The fang) at bay,as well as the leaguesleading goal kicker(clarke) and one of the best crumbers in the comp(winters) opposition sides will be tearing there hair out trying to get a match up and look for the colts to kick some big scores.
We can only hope that newman is right to play against hoppers with him in the side the colts are atleast a 5 goal better side..................

Can this be confirmed? Source.....

This guy will kill this league if it's true..

Re: Western Region Football League team

What about Brendan McEvoy at Yarraville. I see the big fella kicked 11 last week. He would be the best thing thats happened in WRFL for a while wouldn't he:thumbsu:

Re: Western Region Football League team

Brendan McEvoy, dont be silly. he kicked 11 against the worst metropolitan a grade side you could find. Honestly he hasn't done anything all year against quality backmen.
Interesting about Port Colts, some might say they are the Strathmore of the WRFL, lots of gun players, interesting to see if they can play together.
Many changes down at Sunshine this week, some forced due to suspensions and unavailable, but some new faces in, good game to blood new guys playing against Seddon.
