Stalbans winning on the weekend was a bit of a surprise,so there tails will be up.That is a good thing for colts who need to be pushed,Stalbans will come out firing early but the colts have to many winners across the board, julier, massis, webb, stevens will dictate the terms in the middle while jacobs taylor and co are far to accomplished in the back line ,clarke and winters have to many tricks up forward.Make no mistake Stalbans are on a high and will come out all guns blazing but as the dust settles and the cream rises the colts will win..colts by 35pts....

Well ROCK07, I think after last weeks prediction when you suggested that Sunshine would beat Hoppers and I think you mentioned the words "trust me they will", your tip on any of the games would mean very little to the readers of this forum. From now on try to keep your uneducated tips to yourself. As for the game on the weekend at sunshine, I went to have a look and from all reports Sunshine was supposed to give a bit of challenge to Hoppers, this did happen for about 5 minutes in the 1st 1/4 only because Sunshine had a descent wind going towards there goals and missed a couple of opportunities, that's where it ended. The 2 term saw Hoppers smash a very slow, poorly skilled and very undermaned Sunshine with a 10 goal to nil 2nd 1/4. The 3rd and final 1/4's saw Hoppers run away with a very easy win with only a slight yelp from Sunshine in the 3rd 1/4. Hoppers look to have fast running side with very good skills and will be hard to stop, look forward to Hoppers v Port Colts.
fair enuff sunshine didn't give a yelp and hoppers must be alot better than i thought but hoppers also should worry about parkside at parkside before they worry about playing the colts

Rock07 what were Spotty like are they tough do they leave to to few, how did they get to 9 points seems like Colts play with teams let them get close then hang on to win. Sides like Hoppers wont let that happened, heard you were lucky against Parkside to hang on.
The third quarter seems to be the problem, that quarter and the first should be your strongest dont you think?.
Did the rotations on the weekend work how you wanted them to. Heard there was a new big bloke running around in the twos and goes alright and seems very keen to play and have success.

saw the big bloke in the 2's,strong pair of hands and smart at ground level to,but may need a few games under his belt.missed the 1's but seen clarke kicked another six and winters chipped in with 3(again).how did stevens go?was he up forward?that is where he has plays his best footy.also heard the same about newman.hoppers seem better than what people thought and have to be flag fav's and sunshine maybe a big let down again.big game for the colts this week who always seem to struggle a little at st albans and will be pumped after last years game out there,i think johnnie and clarkie will have them up for this one.

well what a big week it has been in football in the wrfl!!! ive seen wit my own eyes that sunshine r protenders not contenders, we flogged them by 10 goals + and they r very ordinary, all this talk bout them bein fast and wat have u, it is all rubbish! they looked dis-interested to me, and for that we sit comfortably on top by % from the colts! the "premiership favourites" i see just hung on by a few over a average spotty team, and then the biggest upset of year so far wit st.albans accounting for parkside, very impressive for the saints, on the other hand very disappointing for parkside, but they will fight back like usual, and then yarraville and albion disposing of the lowly rated teams in seddon and altona, which was always going to happen!!! i think everyones just waiting patiently for the round 7 clash between hoppers and colts, to see who will confirm who the premiership favourites really are, and a big question for every1 is "Who will be match of the round in round 7, hoppers v colts, or seddon v altona?" go hoppers till next week!!!
lets not get ahead of our selfs mhf it is only rd 4 and there is a lot more footy to be play.Ithink hoppers might be the fav for the flag with wining all there games easly but don't look to rd 7 yet. parkside at home is the first real test that hoppers will have.have seen all of the colts game and thow they are not floging teams are doing enuff to get the four points will be a big test for them this week at stalbans let me just say after speaking to a few of the boys they have told me that this was the game there been waiting for after there inbassament last year this is the week you will see a hard running hard at the ball colts team.

Re: Western Region Football League team

Heard a few rumours going around the traps on the weekend, Parkside had a compolsury function for all senior players two weeks ago and only 2 senior players turned up!!!. Also heard the club is very close to folding due to finacial reasons, can anyone confirm???. Maybe a little bit of disharmony around the club, might be why they lost at the weekend to a very ordinary StAlbans!!!. Also whilst listening to the broadcast last weekend to the colts game heard Paul Debruen say a few silly things putting the Hoppers boys down. Would have thought that was a bit stupid before they have even played, a bit of ammunition.

Thats a pretty pi$$ poor effort with the function attendance. could not imagine a club like Parkside folding, but who knows i guess. You would think that if a club was on the brink of financial ruin, more players would get behind their functions.

Thats a old rumour mate. And he may still see the season out if the trial keeps getting adjourned.

Can confirm though that their captain was blind drunk at a pub in williamstown the night before the game against st albans with one other senior player

Come on boys thats abit personal, leave it out this is meant to be about footy, as for Parkside folding that will never happen and hope it does they are a very proud club with a great history and stupid rumours like this dont help.
For Buddha all but 3 players i think played everwhere, i think the Colts have about 20 odd utility players it makes it hard fot the opposition to get on top of players when there are other worthy options. Its a good headache for the coaching staff

wrflfan spotty were pretty competetive and to win by 26pts was ok ,good teams like spotty will always fight back same with parkside, but we probably let them get to close,we have just been relaxing to much once we get a good lead, but in both those games never looked like losing. Now we look forward to our next challenge of st.albans at their ground.
All in all we are travelling pretty well after knocking off two of the top 3 and after st.albans and yarra look forward to hoppers away, who really have faced no opposition after sunshine have been smashed by spoty and hoppers, i think we will give hoppers a great challenge.

I wonder what their low ground is like with all that money you would think they would get a better surface for their stable of champions

Re: Western Region Football League team

Travvy, ive finally signed up, just for you my friend!
Sunshine on the weekend were just overwhelmed, the innaccuracy in front of goal really left them with no hope. Just think a 7 goal first quarter leaves them with the upper hand, and it could have been a different story. Full credit to Hoppers though, they look a really good side.
Interesting about Parkside, not sure what the go there is. But sides do have down days, and i have a feeling Parksides ground don't really suit them. Sunshine have a better run in the next few weeks with seddon and altona, hopefully they can get some form and momentum heading towards a tough mid-year draw.
Any young guys standing out at other clubs? Brenton Quinn would have to be favourite for Rookie of the Year, he would be close to leading Sunshines best and fairest at this stage.

council has control over the ground not the club, will say though that it has had improvements, it doesnt get a days rest at all with all day footy on saturday, sundays for juniors and each night trained on both ovals to accomadate 22 sides. no rest for time to repair

playing on carpet or in a paddock doesnt matter what kind of stable you have still gotta get the aggott

you and travvy might be able to answer this are sunshine at full stength because what Iread in the paper does'nt look like you have got anyone to kick a winning score have they got a tarket in front of goals all relieing on the on-ballers to get a lot of the goals.if thats the case going to be a long year for the roos and another dissapointing one.lets hope I'm wrong because would like to see some diffent teams when it comes to finals.

Re: Western Region Football League team

Sunshine do have a couple of players out at the moment. Tom Millar is probably our best player and he will be back in about 2 weeks. He can play ruck or even centre half forward which will give some direction and allow Stenhouse to play closer to goal, where he has looked very promising and is capable of kicking bags of goals. Steve Pearce has retired which has hurt because on his day he is more then capable, strong hands but not the most accurate shot at goal, still is a massive loss. Forward line hasnt really been settled of late, usually goals come from stenhouse, connor always kicks his 2 to 3, and the on ballers chip in. Grainger is out injured too, and hes always handy for a couple here and there. Overall we would expect a massive improvement with the inclusion of millar, along with bairdy at fill back, who has returned from overseas. Other then bayden yewers from a few seasons back we have never really had a true full forward kicking 60 - 70 goals, which we may need.
