What are the best/worst predictions ever made?

There were people talking up Carlton's flag chances in about 2015 or something; maybe it was earlier

well we're supposed to be wooden spooners apparently

i don't really get why these journo's put themselves out there like this, when have pre-season predictions ever been close to accurate? maybe you get lucky once in a while, but its mostly just pure speculation based on the idea that clubs go bottom 4, rebuild, shoot back up into the top 4, with everything else just being clubs in between these two phases

sports pundits hang their hats on the occasional 'hail mary' call- people usually don't remember the twenty idiotic predictions

Saw this article today about the worst predictions made and it got me thinking - what are the best/worst predictions made by journos/pundits/coaches etc.?

Best: in recent memory, probably Brad Johnson at the start of 2016 predicting Freo would miss the finals in that year and 2017 right after a minor premiership and prelim final (which they could have won).

Worst: possibly all those who tipped Sydney in 2003 to win the spoon. Ten even made a video about it in their coverage of the 03 prelim.
Pissing myself at the Swans vid.

A whole pile of Swans greats pictures... and first year Adam Schneider??? Went on to become a good player but sticks out like a sore thumb in that video.

They did make 3 prelims in a row by the time the Pies won their only flag. That's far from the worst.
They also finished last and second last in the two years following the prediction, while the Pies went on to play consecutive Grand Finals... I don’t think he was predicting seven years down the track.

How about Robert Walls saying the The Eagles would finished last? :D But I suppose there's 10 threads about that already.
Jeez, I hope they win, mostly so I can see the 50kg of scrambled egg on his face, then watch it run down and get stuck in his beard. HA.
Fair dinkum, he should far'k off and retire if they win. I suppose he wasn't alone in his predictions, but as far as I know, he had them bottom, not just "dropping down the ladder", as others did.
A wooden spoon prediction to premiers obviously doesn't get more 'wronger'

According to the Superfooty podcast I just finished listening to, Bruce McAvaney's pre-season tip for the GF was West Coast vs Collingwood. Not many would have got that right.

But then again, when Richmond's Jayden and Collingwood's Mason were somehow involved in the same passage of play in the PF he said "Short and Cox: two words that don't belong in the same sentence."

So he's clearly still capable of flashes of brilliant insight.

Adz infamous thread is looking like one of the greatest bigfooty blunders of all time. has trashed and sulked about the eagles at every turn, and here we are with an opportunity to beat them in a grand final. would be glorious
And you'd no doubt bring all the other Collingwood BF supporters along with him because there's no way Collingwood supporters could differ in opinion.
