For me...

  • Best game of year at Etihad last evening, Adam Goodes - a true superstar of the AFL
  • Melbourne are still shit despite sacking Bailey
  • Garry Lyon has a lot of work to turn Melbourne before start of 2012
  • Geelong and Collingwood are settling up for the finals
  • Adelaide Crows have a heart - takes them to sack a coach to find it
  • Judd can prepare his brownlow speech now
  • Despite the 2 x 100 pts games there were close ones as well
  • Adam McPhee can look fwd to a holiday - 2-3 games imo
  • Scott Thompson is a gun and basically got his team over the line today.
  • Port are in a bad way. No players, no money. Bottom 2 for next 2-3 years

- The AFL is in for a few years of having a great divide between the good teams and the terrible sides.
- Melbourne's confidence is shot.
- Saints are really starting to look the goods
- Adelaide may have found some form late in the piece. Geelong next week will tell us where they are at. I believe they have been playing well below what they are capable of.

I learnt that West Coast will need to improve a fair amount to be able to get close to the top 4 next season, but have the capacity to do so aswell.

Er, how? You confident they'll beat you and then knock us off at Paterson's?

Yep, they're all talking themselves up on another thread.

Will limp into the finals with 10 , maybe 11 wins ( if they get there ), and start playing footy they were capable of ( which they apparently showed during the pre-season comp ) to dismantle Carlton with ease.

I've been told that the only sides that Essendon can not beat is Collingwood, and Geelong ( even though they beat geelong in h/a), so , yep, that includes Carlton, West Coast 2 week as well.

So, what have I really learnt from Round 20 ?

Carlton are a better team at the MCG
Essendon are a better team at Ethihad
Mzungu is a real find
Port have hit rock bottom
Michael Voss should be unemployed

-Round 24 matches Carl V Saints and Geel v Coll will both be absolute rippers
-It will take 5-6 years for the gulf in talent to cease
-North have a great inside midfield and will be a contender before Melbourne/Freo/Essendon etc
-Rules of the week are a joke
-Adelaide have some heart
-Close games still exist but they are very hard to find

-In term of domination, Geelong and Collingwood are way ahead of Hawthorn/Carlton/West Coast
-St Kilda will earn a home final, and could go close to Collingwood
-Dean Bailey was not the problem, but was part of it
-Alistair Clarkson should sign up now. Great list. Stars star when they need to (Hodge, Mitchell, Franklin, Burgoyne, Sewell, Rioli etc)
-North need a decent pre season, working their skills and fitness to an appropriate level, and will deliver the hype. Fantastic inside midfield, with a lot of players able to take up the slack if 1 or 2 fail.
-The gulf in teams is due to standard rebuilding phases rather then taking the Sydney route of topping up with hard-bodied youngsters and staying competitive.
-Port should clean out the players such as Kane Cornes, Pearce, Salopek, Surjan, Motlop and Carlile. Surjan is reported to want to leave, the others don't look like they want to be there. Along with Chad and Brogan, that is a decent amount of experience leaving, but things will plateau or get worse, before they get better
-Essendon has a fantastic spirit, would like to see them go far in finals this year, but I'm not sure they will

* St.Kilda are third in line behind Geelong and Collingwood despite the ladder standings
* Melbourne as a club are in serious trouble
* Essendon will trouble a few sides if they can make finals
* North today got a relfection of where there at, no where near top 8 material
* West Coast will make top 4 even doing too much damage
* Adam Goodes is a real chance at the browlow but unfornetely for him Chris '3 votes Judd' has it locked away

The umpires are incredibly biased towards West Coast at PS. Currently running at 27-11 frees and given them numerous goals. At least 5-6 dodgy ones.

No matter what happens in this last quarter - West Coast aren't real contenders this year.
lol the 2nd qtr WC got some lucky calls but that was about it. You get to the ball first you get the frees.

I sense offended. You gave away your frees due to poor technique and discipline. For the record, all season barring a few games we'd have it tough with the umps, even at Subi.

That number of free kicks stat means NOTHING. Why can't people understand this?!?

Richmond made a lot of cheap shots today. Unsociable football gone wrong = lots of free kicks.

By the umpires.

Cmon Mate.

They were shocking.

57 -30 = 27.

Good effort Richmond.

Jack looks to have got his confidence back.

LOL@11 frees to 4 when Richmond won a quarter.

LAUGHABLE performance by the umpires today.

Yep, and Glass is the only guy in the AFL that can chop arms and ride guys into the ground in the marking contest and it's play on.

Hardly.

You guys just managed to get frees when you dived into our players leg tripping them over or when we executed perfect tackles and they were paid in the back, etc. Your players could throw the ball or just drop it while we got pinged every time. I understand there's a little bias towards home teams and top teams vs bottom teams but today was just ridiculous.

30 frees to 13.

not sure how todays game made you reach that conclusion, we were in front with 5 minutes to go

So... the umpires all love Glass so much that he can get away with constant infringements? That's your theory?
