Whoever is braodcastig my teams game and has the least ads, therefore the more football.

BTW 3AW has built up a pretty good comedy lineup to rival the Coodabeens, with Tony Leonard, Trevor Marmalade, Leaping Larry (I think) and Dr Turf (all 3RRR legends) on Saturday mornings. Worth a listen.

K-Rock/3gl - sadly gone down after Ted Whitten's sad death..were a great alternative to the mainstream as I remember.

3lo - professional, accurate and fair

Triple M - getting better with more experience

3aw - Excitable, a little over the top when the situation being described doesn't allow for it.

For me, currently it's Triple M..very clear signal.

Going back to my childhood, I always loved 3kz (Ian Major was great, Jack Dyer used to have me in fits of laughter with the vernacular), 3ak wasn't too bad, but sadly that has all gone.

Jack Dyer

"Richmond and Collignwood are battling for the ball, its a ball up, no the ball spills free, and the young player um um um picks the ball up and snaps over his head, the big men fly, its a mark no its a goal, a very good goal, well played there, and the margin is now 20 points and the ball is taken back to the centre by the umpire. A great passage of play, these boys are really doing well on the Radio Rental scoreboard"

As long as you didn't want to know the score or who had the ball, Jack Dyer was great!!!!

3aw is the best

Rex hunt and the boys kick goal for me The worst courages are 3LO and Triple M for football.

Triple M is better when Eddies not there. James Bryshaw he rocks foootball. As former cricketer turn football caller he is a champion

The only way to listen to Rex is if you are at the actual game. Otherwise, you have no friggin idea what is happening with all of his waffle, piffle & hot air.

Agreed 100%. When listening to Rex Hunt, it seems that the game is a complete and utter afterthought whenever he's got the mic.

Here in Ballarat, we don't get any of those main stations unless we're travelling up the highways en route towards Melbourne or Geelong, but we do get 3AW's coverage courtesy of 3BA (both affiliates of the Southern Cross network). But there have been times that I have simply changed the station to the ABC-- as dull as dishwater as their commentary can be at times-- whenever Rex is on... on some days, his schtick is good to listen to, but oftentimes it's not.

On general principle, I'd prefer to listen to K-ROCK (they're Geelong's official broadcaster, of course :D ); otherwise, I'll take Triple M for their depth of coverage.

Exactly right!!

I don't care about ****teenths., the umpire going BANG, air conveyances etc just tell me where the ball is, who's got it and where it's going for god's sake!!

Cheers

Things have changed a lot this year with Tim Lane leaving the ABC's Saturday and Sunday coverage and Dwayne Russell also gone to AW. Haven't herad yet who wil be their replacement but apparently Dan Lonegan will be one of them.

It seems the Coodabeens are going to do midday-1pm on 774 so 3AW will be the go pre-match (although some people might get upset that Caroline Wilson will be on with Walls and Healy in pre-match).

Aw have got Wallace, Shaw and Walls as experts and I heard that Anthony Hudson is going to be back calling with Rex on Sundays.

I read somewhere that Triple M have got new experts with Dougie getting the arse and Nick Daffy and David Schwarz being recruited.

AW......" here comes Collingwood....over the hill with hand grenades and tanks....Adelaide are under SIEGE!!!!'
And if you don't know where the ball is you have the concentration skills of a gnat.

Footy on FM sounds dreadful IMO.

You're with the Captain & the Major, 3KZ is football.

Rexy's a bit of a treat for when I visit Victoria, his broadcasts aren't available in Sydney. Always good fun to listen to and very funny, but if you're more interested in actually finding out what's happening on the field then the ABC callers are the way to go. And they're the only ones that broadcast into Sydney.
