Travis Gaspar
Andrew McDougall
Troy Wilson
Michael Gardiner
Ashley Hansen
Dean Cox
Phillip Matera

sorry to break your bubble coasters but thats not much of a forward line. Even the dockers have more options up forward; options that could actually kick some goals.

Polak
Waterhouse
J.Longmiur
Pavlich
Koops
Farmer
Croad
McPharlin

just a quick team i've thought of off the top of my head for 2-3 seasons time, of course i have probably missed some, and the list will be different, but as far as potential goes it isn't bad.

Matera Hansen Sampi
Merenda Gardiner Haynes
Fletcher Kerr Wirrapunda
Morrison Gaspar Collica
Read Glass Carroll
Seaby Cousins Judd
Jones Cox Humm McDougall

YES

Haynes...........top class forward for the future
Sierakowski........played already at Saints and was a high trade last year
Merenda......absolute class player, plagued by injury but came good last year
Sampi, pick 6...say no more
Munro.........watch him go in a year or two
Williams .........would be on every clubs shopping list
Embley .......must stand up this year but has shown ability
Taylor .....traded from Hawks where he was a respected player
Wirrapunda........you'd get two first round draft picks for him
Hunter .......must stand up this year but has the ability
Green .......must stand up this year but has the ability

Ok, after watching the news on 7 & 9, I've changed my mind on Sampi a little.

1) He was in bed and was told the news he'd been drafted by his family.
2) He then put his pillow back over his head & went back to sleep.

Obviously not as excited as I'd thought he'd be.

You cant blame him.

Least Polak got his wish

Either way, he was still in bed asleep when the draft was on.

Enlighten me as to where you saw or heard an interview with either Polak or Sampi & they said they actually wanted to be Dockers and not Eagles.

So what if he was sleeping, maybe its his way of dealing with emotions.

When my mum came into my room one morning and told me my grandpa just died, i went back to sleep. It didn't mean i didn't care.

When the terrorist bombing were on, I only watched the first 10 mins and then went back to bed. It didn't mean it didn't interest me, I just simply had a morining class at 8am the next day and had to get some sleep.

So going to sleep is not a sing of disinterest, just a way of him dealing with his emotions.

WA, Polak is a WCE supporter while Sampi is a freo boy, thats who they support. Neither player ever said they wanted to play for freo, its just something Sabre made up.

I wont hide it....i am very disappointed in the club that they passed on Polack and although i know our midfield needed help, i thought our forward line needed the help more.

Still im warming to Judd and the Eagles have a great track record with keeping Vics in WA. So im sure he will be very happy in WA.

Having huge doubt on Sampi.

I know what you're saying, but IMO today's draft was always going to change the course of his life forever, well for the next few years anyway, and I'd have thought he'd be really excited. At the very least he could have looked happy and excited when he was interviewed. Maybe I'm just more an excitable type of person and I know how I'd react. I guess his reaction could also be put down to shyness and not knowing how to deal with sudden spotlight. Our PR & media people have some work to do.

I'd heard who both players supported, it's a fairly safe bet with Sampi playing for South Freo, but like I said I'd never seen either say who they wanted to PLAY for. Obviously Sabre hadn't either.

What where they thinking, yes Judd looks the good as a strong midfielder.
But no club in the AFL needs key position players like Polak.Polak was exactly what you needed.
Unbelievable this is the kind of move that I would expect from the Dockers.Fremantle were always the unpredictable, but looks like eagles are going down that path.

I know allot of you are not happy with this move and you should probally voice this unhappyness now.

Yea, yea...you've proved to be correct again Sabre........such unhappiness for us poor WCE supporters

Judd vs Polak? At the time, i was pretty upset that we got Judd instead of Polak, mainly because in a typically West Aussie-centric way, i'd never heard of Judd. Having said that, I have to applaud Woosha and the coaching staff for doing their homework so well. Judd is a truly excellent pickup- even if he never improves, he'll be a class player in the league, if he does get better, he could very well become one of the top-echelon level of players in the league, like Bell, Cousins, Voss, Acka, Hird, Buckley etc. I'm not taking anything away from Polak since, although i feel he lacks polish, he is certainly a classy young player, but five games in, hmm, who has got more out of their star pick? We made the right decision.

Hey, and Kuepps, how does it feel to be WOEFULLY wrong about west coast's forward line? No key forwards huh? Last time i checked, we are currently the most potent scoring team in the AFL. And our full forward is equal first in Goals kicked in the league.
Funny how idiot statements come back to bite u in the bum. Sorry, How many goals did your superstar forward line get against Geelong?

Its 5 games in and Polak played half a game before getting injured.Hes only 17 and a key position player who everyone knows takes time to develop.
How any comparison can be made at this point is beyond me.
Who knows he could be the next Kernahan (as touted) or the next carey.
Nobody knows untill his career has peaked.

As a matter of fact, I think Polak shows an awful lot of promise. But even in the pre season, i was happier with Judd- he has something which a lot of rookies lack- he's fit into the AFL perfectly, and doesn't look out of place at all.

Hold on Sabre, are you trying to become a spin doctor?

It was the WCE guys that said Polak would take a few years to develop whereas you had him as a virtual Brownlow certainty THIS year. Geesh, you do backflip when it suits you :D

But this thread was started by YOU crtiticising our recruiting

Now in light of what you said, how about saying "sorry guys, I got it WRONG"

Why should I apologise?
Because Judd was a success?
I dont think so, your club is still in dier need of young key position players.
Jackovich,McIntosh and Wilson really only have a few years left in them and apart from wilson, what other viable key forward do you have.
Ill stand by my comments as at the time and even now they were accurate.
