When I am down in Melb I am considering getting a few tech heads together and starting a site (and setting it up for reaserch purposes only of course!) As I have absoloutly no wealth and am not afraid of going to jail, I would let the AFL take what ever legal action they want. I will get my legal aid and we will see how we go.

These pricks aren't even providing the service they are trying to stop others providing so screw them.

do you guys reckon had it not been brought up in bigfooty, attention would not have been brought to it?

What do you think ??

The URL was put up on bigfooty and 24 hours later the site is saying that the AFL have asked for it to be disabled.

Cause-effect, effect-cause, inductive reasoning.

I never knew about it myself but just out of interest how long was the site running for?

its rather amusing that AFL is monitoring these posts and acting on it immediatley and yet the 15 000 posts DEMANDING ITS OWN F>>>NG WEBSITE BE IMPROVED go through to the keeper.

what a joke.

Post of the year!

As an overseas residing AFL lover there is nothing more frustrating. The AFL have corralled all access to audio and video, even restricting radio braodcasts from the stations own website, to a site that f**ks up regularly. All because they thrown a few dollars.

What makes it all the more farcical, is that they intend on spending millions to promote the game internationally.

FFS; allowing people to view your product is a promotion in itself. Companies pay millions in advertising to get their product seen, yet the AFL seem to spend their time and money doing their best to restrict their products distribution.

Seems as though the future of the game is not the priority at all. Money grabbing short sightedness is all the rage at AFL headquarters.

You know, colin_wood, it wouldn't take much for someone with a very basic level of knowledge of HTML (and perhaps PHP) to redo that page as a set of downloadable files so that you could view it on your own machine... or even as a Wordpress or MySpace plugin.

Not that I'm suggesting that someone should, of course, because that would probably get that someone in trouble, if anyone knew who they were.

And if such a thing did appear, it certainly wouldn't be me behind it.

I know the direct links to the game but will not post it on here obviously. There are many ways to get in the backdoor of bigpond crap... if you are desperate you can pm me, but you must prove to me you don't work for the afl ;)
