Nothing would satisfy me more right now than drafting H.Reid and watch him kick a bag against the tin-rattlers.


And anyone else wanting to entertain splitting the pick in this massively compromised draft needs to give themselves an uppercut as well.

I've had enough of the post season bullshit on the boards. WCE just draft reid FFS in 3 months time. He's my third favourite player in the draft group but just draft him FFS and if needed on draft night keep an eye on the first round and if needed pay a minor premium to jump pick 19 into Murphy as a true KPD succession plan.

Here is my scenario. Unless someone is able to manufacture a top 3 pick, a top 5 pick and another top 5 pick next year, * off. Stop the discussion, close it off and turn it all down. Or Melbourne can get pick 4, pick 10, their future first and Pickett or those smug pricks can * off too. Quickly becoming one of my most hated clubs. WCE don't need JVR, he doesn't play significantly taller than he is and whilst he is hard at the ball and man he gets pushed under it too often, doesn't impact contests well enough and is an average kick.

This is the first week with no footy and the board has turned into a complete farce. Enjoy your weekends everyone, I have lots of footy to watch. Keeping my mouth shut and holding a poker face whilst club staff talk absolute bullshit is doing my head in. Lastly and once again, * player managers, they are scum and are wielding way too much power.

Not convinced.

The north and AFL didn't want to be seen giving up access to 2 top 5 picks for one. It's against the narrative. North need as many too end picks as we do, so while it makes sense for us trade down to have more picks, it works against north. I'm not sure the would give access to sanders if the coughed up 2 picks for one.

The AFL are a law unto themselves and often not transparent in their decision making.

But I doubt that they would attempt to manipulate/massage the draft and club decisions to this extent.

All the media goons want to be the first at reporting something to feel relevant. So they report their own guesses as fact so they can say you heard it here first.
The Eagles are good at keeping things quiet on what they are going to do with drafting, normally only leaks occur a day or two out from the draft.
Saying that they’d be stupid not to pick Harley.

You've completely missed the point of the post.

Last year it made sense, as there were players ROB was confident WCE could get with the split picks and both were from WA.

This year there's only 1 WA talent expected to go in the first round, yet people still suggest splitting it for more WA talent.

That obviously won't work this year because the players simply aren't there to do that, yet people who don't follow the draft still advocate for splitting picks because it worked last year and just say "pick another 2 WA kids".

i love ginbey and hewett. so why not split every high end pick?
did i say always splitting is stupid? no, my point was simply saying "split the pick" with no further analysis is stupid. who are the ginbey and hewett of this draft? there aren't any. there isn't even an ed allan. last year was last year and the draft this year has a very different shape. last year it made sense to split. this year not so much.

I wanted Sheezel, so wasn’t super stoked with the split last year, albeit it looks decent in hindsight. While Ginbey and Hewett look like good long term players, they may not hit Sheezel level.

This year is a different story though. Reid is a clear 1A player and fits an absolute need for us in the middle and as a forward. To me, picking him is a no brainer.
