I've had enough of all of these kents already.

Nothing would satisfy me more right now than drafting H.Reid and watch him kick a bag against the tin-rattlers.

And anyone else wanting to entertain splitting the pick in this massively compromised draft needs to give themselves an uppercut as well.

Ben King to Hawthorn rumours are heating up, apparently being reported on Fox and both GC and Hawthorn ITK’s running with it.

Gold Coast could very well end up with picks 3 & 4 in this year’s draft if that’s the case. Imagine what pick 1 would mean for them.

There's been a big offer on the table a long time. If you were to make the assumption it happens as long as North don't an extra pick after theirs I would trade 3,4 and their future first for 1 and our future second with a handshake agreement not to bid on players and hold points for them. (I know most probably wouldn't be happy with the above but TBH i'd be ok, not pleased with just 3&4 for 1 but it would be a very WCE thing to do)

I really don't see North wanting to move up to pick 1 so really don't see any other club and scenario i'd be happy trading out of pick 1.

It would be huge for the suns but I would still be happy with with one of the big 4 from the draft and then the first pick of the next grouping . It would also likely mean concessions for academy clubs get toned back far quicker with the uproar etc of GC walking away with the top 2 talents of the draft again and likely 3 of the top 7.

Long is the Cripps replacement from your wish list.

He is much more than a small crumbing forward. Not that you said that.

In a couple of years.

Ryan Allan Moir
Brockman Maric Long

J Williams ruck / forward off bench

Hewett and Reid rotate deep forward.

Reckon Long will end up being a mid. At the very least a Rioli type that splits between HFF/Mid.

Hawks itks were also saying Liam Ryan to them was 100% happening to play with Brockman.
They've now changed their tune and coming to terms with the fact Brockman has checked out and Ryan isn't coming back in the other direction.

It would be a major problem for the Suns holding 3 and 4. A Walters bid would take out 1 at least. Maybe the other gets shuffled down a few spots then someone bids on another nga and they lose both.

I reckon we could trade our F1st for pick 3 if the Suns landed that. Also help carry picks to the draft for them.

Not sure how the Suns get the points to match if they don’t maximise value for their pick 4. Obviously if they add pick 3 to the equation they have more than sufficient points but still have the issue of having to trade out the picks.

Would we be better off chasing pick 4 on its own, and suggesting that they try to upgrade pick 3 into pick 2 with Nth. (Wink nudge, give us a good deal for 4 and we don’t bid at 1).

We don’t bid, they select at 2 (agree not to select the Nth desired player), Nth bid on Walter @ 3 (see, no agreement was made under the table here!). Nth then get their desired player at 4 and we get pick 5 (granted the top 4 are gone but Duursma or Watson still very much fit the bill for what we need. Outside chance that GC select one of them as well as they would fit their needs meaning we get Curtain/McKercher whoever Nth don’t take).

Could absolutely bundle this with live trading and hiding picks for GC.

Yes of course, that’s why I called them rumours. Nothing’s ever certain when it comes to trading.

What’s the benefit for Nth here? Pick 2 back to pick 3 would have to have something going to the Tin Rattlers and that’s if they don’t already have pick 3 as McKay compo.

Reckon Eagles fans are in about the 13th stage of grief after the last two seasons.

Just funny when people who are ITKs, who their board believe to be the oracle's end up with egg on their face.

So the Vic Media have tried to say Harley won’t come to WA and the Eagles will be trying to trade back to get Curtin.

What they haven’t said or thought of is that Harley and his Manager probably have worked out by now that when he gets handed the number 9 of one of the biggest clubs in the land and the most financially successful it is going to be a license to print money for the kid and his manager.

Being the face of the Eagles is a big deal.

We still need more balanced mid/ forward types. As injuries have seen our more dangerous players forward of center miss most of the season West Coast was forced to play a mix of too many defenders and midfielders who don't get dangerous forward of centre.

On top of our stoppage woes, we've struggled to put pressure to force teams to kick long and that's down to being short on pace and lack of competitive types who fight and scrap at ground level.

Look at Petch. He's been a breath of fresh air through the middle and Long brings similar traits only cleaner by hand.

Reid can play this role and I know I'll get flamed but Woodcock is another cheap option too.

Understand the frustration, but have to disagree about being not far from our best line up.

Surely adding Ginbey, Ryan, Barrass, Maric, Culley, Sheed, Hough and hopefully Reid makes us a lot stronger.

You could have Leigh Matthews in charge of last night's team and you ain't getting a better result IMO.

We're probably a lock for bottom 2 TBH.

So realistically, what are the expectations for next year?

Obviously stop the thrashings.

Six wins would be a pass IMO.
Bottom 2 is an absolute lock next year!

Yeah, if we can stop the thrashings would be great start. 6 wins as a pass might be too much, perhaps 4 and a few close loses.

I'm trying to put this into actuals rather than pick numbers to work out whether I like it or not...

Curtin/McKercher and Duursma plus Suns F1 (could be anywhere, but at a guess outside 8) for Harley Reid and our F2 (19/20 next year).

Slight alt and I'd be interested, add their F2.

It is friggin huge for them, they take Reid, Walter, Read and Rogers this year and still have our F2 next year.

It's tempting.

He's been saying the club needed to draft mids since 2021.
Even in 2018 it was a problem but our elite forward line was of the scale efficient. Hence the recruitment of Kelly. Problem was that Yeo, Shuey and then NicNat were lost to injuries.

On the weekend a few times the CBA was Kelly, Xon and Edwards, let that sink in

Reid is a must plus another more mature midfielder till the likes of some of our recent midfield recruits reach the 50 game experience level.
