I've had enough of all of these kents already.

Nothing would satisfy me more right now than drafting H.Reid and watch him kick a bag against the tin-rattlers.

And anyone else wanting to entertain splitting the pick in this massively compromised draft needs to give themselves an uppercut as well.

De Mattia would be in contention at 19 regardless of Reid, Lual at 35 would represents good value but we will probably opt for Hine-Baston with a later pick.
I like the look of Hine-Bastion more than Lual anyway.

Think we can do better with that pick. Really hoping to get HB later.

If Curtain gets to 6 the eagles will end up with Reid AND Curtain one way or the other, probably a big pick trade with Gold Coast and no bidding

That's the plan.

And it will cost our F1st IMO.

Some on here won't be happy.

But Reid plus Curtin plus picks 19, 35 and 38 would be a great injection of talent.

A couple of nga's and a trade or two and we have brought in 9 replacements.

I'm wanting this too but I'd still rather Reid and McKercher over Reid and Curtin but would do it for either combo

At pick 5 or 6 we may well get something extra back as well.

Our Future 1st is nominally pick 1, and a high likelihood of being top 3.

Probably a stretch to get a contenders F1st back, but at worst a F2nd.

5 & F2nd (35ish) for F1st (1-3). It would be a great deal for the holder of 5…. I’m not opposed to it for the right player as well (we are only going to benefit from bringing in talent a year early, provided the talent level is similar - which in the first 5 or so picks it appears to be).

Could we get the GCS pick using 19, Ports 2nd and our 3rd plus the promise not to bid on GCS picks?

I think we should keep our F1. We will either get another good player or potentially split it next year and get 2.

Further to this it would leave us with 1, 5ish and 2 picks in the 50’s.

it is being said that the draft will only get to 50 odd this year so probably a good opportunity with those 2 late picks plus more of needed.

Big bargaining chip for the worst team in the league to agree not to bid on NGA prospects for 2 years stacked with NGA GCS prospects. Reasonably confident we’ll be able to offer them the best deal. I’d be happy to swap F1 as part of it for example.

If Curtin looked set to go to Nth at pick 2 or 3 then I’d be happy if this scenario played out.

Dogs trade 11 & 17 to the Suns for pick 4.

Done on draft night so Eagles take some picks in for the Suns

Suns trade 11 to Eagles for Eagles future 2nd and pick 19.

Pick swap with suns 38,54 & 57(867pts)
For pick 28 ( 677pts)

Take to the Draft 1,11,28,35 to the draft.

Option one

1) Reid. ( Utility)

11) O’Sullivan or Murphy (kpd)

28) Bid on Cadien Cleary ( mid). then if Swans match one of Tholstrup or Sanchez or Delean (fwd)

35) Clay Hall or Cooper Simpson (mid)

Option 2

1) Reid

11) Sanders or Darcy Wilson (Mid)

28) Archie Roberts, Lual, or Leake (def)

35) Schoenmaker, Patton, (tall def)

Could also take a NGA
Collard or Hine-Baston in either option.

Wow, that was quite a take by frenchconnection .
Never seen anyone remotely like Judd at West Coast:

He could put on the afterburners like no other. His burst and evasion through traffic was simply unmatched, and he'd swoop on it at full tilt and then still manage to finish.
Prior to OP he was hands down the best mid in the league and destined for hall of fame legend. Still a champion post-OP but he'd lost that incredible burst. Such a shame
Those 5 against brisbane in a half when they were at the peak of their powers has to be one of the best midfield performances ever

According to rumours, there may be another retirement or two. If one of them is the Gov, then I would expect us to take Curtin with pick 1 - it's way too early to get hyped up over Harley Reid. It may not work out that way.
Personally, I am not fussed either way, Curtin or Reid, as they are both junior champions, and would serve very well. Would love both, but unlikely.

Taking Curtin at 1 because Gov retired would be so ****ing dumb. Gov's barely played for 3 years as it is.

Gaff or Waterman (illness)

Maybe both.

Be pretty awesome if Gaff, Darling and Gov all retired and then signed up for the Beagles like Wellingham and Nelson.

A year helping them not get flogged every week will probably help the team develop better than playing in the ones.

Can’t expect that of them though.

Gaff or Waterman (illness)

Maybe both.

I can’t see Gaff retiring. Has a year to run on a lucrative contract, isn’t injured to the extent that an injury payout would apply.

His form, whilst poor, is also a function of the team being poor (not withstanding his limitations around pace and kicking depth).

I just don’t see him willing to be the fall guy to the tune of $800k+. Not his fault either, a contract is a contract and the club chose to offer it.

Reported more retirements to follow.

Gaff mentally looks done. Maybe he and the body have had enough, club pays out $400k of the final year and all parties agree its for the best.

Stranger things have happened.

It sounds like someone else is retiring. Who?

I think this is probably on the money.
Though Waterman would be the least likely option of the two.
Gaff looks done, even his return to OK form hasn't been enough I think to really reassure people he can keep up.

The others possibly looking at pulling the cord would be Gov, Yeo is probably one major injury away.

Pretty sure you can't pay out half the contract for gaff if he decided to pull the pin.
He either plays and gets his full whack or retires and gets nothing.
Unless it's a retirement due to injury which is doubtful.
